Jakarta,Indonesia – September 17,2025 – โthe Indonesian rupiah closed marginally higher โขagainst the US dollar today,reaching Rp16,437 per USD following Bank Indonesia’s (BI) latest benchmark interestโ rate reduction.
The rupiah’s performance comes amid fluctuating currency valuations across โAsia,โ influenced by global economic conditions and monetary policy adjustments. โThe slight strengthening of the rupiah-a gain of 3 points or 0.02%-impacts Indonesianโค importers,exporters,and foreign โinvestment,while โthe broader economic implications of BI’s rate cut are still unfolding. The US dollarโ index rose โค0.19 points, or 0.19%, toโฃ 96.82 at 15:10 WIB.
According to Bloomberg โฃ data, the โฃrupiah opened stronger at IDRโค 16,426 per US dollar at 09:09 WIB, representing a 0.09% increase. โขThe USโข dollarโค also saw a slight increase,rising 0.09% to 96.71 at โขthe same time.
Across the region, currency movements were mixed.The Japanese Yen weakened 0.12% and 0.05% โฃduring the day’s trading, while โthe Hong Kong dollar, Singapore dollar, Taiwan dollar, and โSouth Korean Won experienced varying degrees of fluctuation. The Philippine โคpeso, Indian rupee, Chinese Yuan, Malaysian ringgit, andโ Thai baht also showed mixed results, with some strengthening and others weakening against the US dollar.
