## Karnataka Highโฃ Court Allows RSS Route March in Chittapur with Participant Limit
The Karnataka High โCourt’s Kalaburagi Bench has authorizedโ the rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS)โ toโ conductโฃ its โPath Sanchalan (route march) in Chittapur, Kalaburagi district, on November 16, between 3:30 pm and 6:30 pm.
Theโข court’s decision followed aโ petition by the RSS challenging theโข district administration’s initialโค approval, which limited โขparticipation โto โ300 members, despiteโข the association’s request for 850. Advocate Arun Shyam,โ representingโค the RSS, argued โฃfor โขa minimum โคof 600 participants.
Justice MGS Kamal, after considering the โplea, permittedโค the procession to proceed with 300 uniformed participants and an additional 50โ bandโ members, instructing authorities to ensure the event’s smooth facilitation as scheduled.
The legal challenge arose afterโ the โdistrict administration โคinitially โคdenied permissionโ for the route march on October 19,citing concernsโข about potential disruptions to peace and lawโ and order in Chittapur, the constituency of minister Priyankโข Kharge. Following the denial, the High Court onโฃ Octoberโ 30 directed RSS โconvenor Ashok Patil to meet with district authoritiesโ on November 5 at the Advocate General’s office toโฃ discuss event logistics. The administrationโค subsequently granted permission with restrictions, โprompting the RSS to seekโค judicial review.
Minister โคPriyank Kharge has publicly criticized the RSS and previously called for a ban on its activities. He recently questioned the organization’s โoperation without formal โฃregistration, askingโค why the RSS cannot register โand operate with the same โขtransparency and accountability as other NGOs.
