Royce Keys, who debuted at the Royal Rumble in January, currently has no immediate plans for his return to WWE television, according to reports. The stalled creative direction for the former Powerhouse Hobbs has left fans questioning when the wrestler will officially be integrated into a weekly roster.
WrestleVotes Radio reported on March 3, 2026, that despite recent appearances at television tapings, “nothing” is currently in development for Keys. The report indicated a lack of defined storylines to incorporate him as the company approaches WrestleMania 42, scheduled for April 18 and 19.
“Nothing. Large question mark. Absolutely nothing,” a source from WrestleVotes Radio stated. “You understand, we had speculated that SmackDown was the place for him. It certainly does still seem like that’s going to be his home. I know he was backstage Friday night. Saw some pictures of him. Don’t know when he’s showing up on TV. Hopefully, they have an idea. Hopefully, This represents part of the plan.”
Keys’ performance at the Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia, where he eliminated Damian Priest before being eliminated by Bronson Reed, had generated positive fan reaction. However, a planned feud between Keys and Priest was reportedly scrapped due to creative adjustments leading up to WrestleMania 42, according to WrestleVotes Radio via Fightful Select.
While no television appearances have materialized, Keys has remained active within WWE, recording content at headquarters and participating in a dark match against Nathan Frazer. Despite these behind-the-scenes activities, a full-time roster position remains elusive.
WrestleVotes Radio speculated that the ongoing adjustments to the WrestleMania 42 card may be contributing to the uncertainty surrounding Keys’ role. The possibility remains that creative plans could be revisited, but as of March 3, 2026, no concrete direction has been established.
CM Punk is currently scheduled to defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 42. Whether Keys will be added to the card remains dependent on the WWE creative team finalizing a plan for the newcomer.
