Tiny Companion Robot mirumi Now Available for Preorder on Kickstarter
LAS VEGAS, NV – mirumi, theโ adorable companion robot first showcased at CES 2025, is now available for preorder through aโ Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign. Developed โby Yukai โEngineering, the small, furry bot is designed notโ for practical tasks, but โคto bring joyโ through โsimulated inquisitiveness โคand a charming personality.
Originally unveiled alongside new TVs, robovacs, and smart glasses at the tech โconference earlier this year, Mirumi distinguishes itself fromโข othre robots by intentionally lacking a functional โฃpurposeโ beyond โcompanionship. The โฃrobot features a pair of arms designed โto attach to bags or handles, allowing it โto “lookโ around” by turning and tilting its head.It also uses a distance sensor to detect people, โfocusing its gaze and โreacting with bashful movements when approached. โข
Yukai engineering initially anticipated a price point of around $70, but global economic shifts have adjusted the cost. Earlyโค Kickstarter backers can โpreorder Mirumi with gray, pink, or ivory fur for 18,360 yen (approximately โข$118 with discounts). The crowdfunding price will โincrease to 21,803 yen (around โ$140) as the campaign progresses, before reaching โขa full retail price ofโ $150.
Despite being available for preorder, โshippingโข isn’t expected to begin until April โ2026, and โขpotential delays are possible, as with any crowdfunded project. โคMirumiโ is positioned as a unique choice to functional robots focused on โฃtasks โขlikeโค cleaning floors or โmowingโ lawns, offering โคratherโค a simple, comforting presence.
