Liam Paro Issues Bold Challenge to Keith Thurman,Citing “Chihuahua” Mentality

Liam Paro has publicly challenged former unified welterweight world champion Keith Thurman to a fight in Australia,dismissing the American’s interest as mere posturing. The Australian contender, speaking ahead of his own ring appearance, directly addressed Thurman’s recent comments, suggesting the veteran lacks genuine intent to face him.

Paro, a 29-year-old contender, expressed his willingness to move up in weight to accommodate a bout with Thurman, a fighter who has recently been campaigning at 154 pounds. Paro stated he would be prepared to fight at 150 pounds, a significant jump from his usual 140-pound division. He also highlighted his own decisive victory over Brock Jarvis,a recent opponent of thurman,noting that he secured a first-round knockout while Thurman required three rounds to defeat Jarvis.

The proposed fight between thurman and Tim Tszyu, which had been anticipated to take place in Australia, appears to be off the table following Tszyu’s recent loss to WBC champion Sebastian Fundora. It was in the wake of this growth that Thurman reportedly mentioned Paro’s name as a potential opponent.

Paro’s camp has reportedly reached out to Thurman through thier promoter, No Limit, but claims Thurman has not accepted the offer.Paro characterized Thurman’s approach as that of a “chihuahua,” suggesting he is “all bark, no bite.” He emphasized his belief in his own skills and the potential prestige of defeating a fighter of Thurman’s caliber, calling it a significant “scalp to take.”

The Australian boxer concluded his remarks by directly inviting Thurman to “Come to Australia,” reiterating his respect for the former champion but underscoring the difference in their recent performances against a common opponent.
