Akiba Festival Returns to Valdivia, Bringing Asian Pop Culture to Saval Park
VALDIVIA, Chile -โ The fifth โคedition of the Akiba Festival, a celebration of anime,โข K-pop, โฃJ-pop, and gaming culture, is โขset to take over Saval park in Valdivia onโค October 25th and 26th. The โevent, organized by the akiba Festivalโฃ Group, will offer free entry to attendees from 11 a.m. to 7โ p.m. each day.
What began in 2016 as a local gathering at the Escuelaโข Espaรฑa gym โhas grown into a regional event attracting enthusiasts and performers from across Chile. This year’s festival, โฃthemed “The Last Empire,” aims to bridge โtraditional โฃAsian culture with modern technology, creating a dynamicโข experience for both seasoned fans and newcomers.
“This festival is designed both for lovers of Asian culture andโ for those who are attracted to it, butโข haveโ not โyet had the chance to delve intoโฃ it,” explained Mattรญas Escuvier, a member of the organizing team. President of the organizing group,Constanza Ojeda,added that โthe theme seeks “to create a dynamic that combines the ancestral with the โcontemporary.”
Attendees can expect a diverse range of activities, including dance performances, martial arts demonstrations, Asian cuisine, illustration stands,โ merchandise vendors, and video game stations. K-pop and J-pop music performances will also be featured, alongside appearances by Aki, the festival’s mascot – a friendly rabbit.
A key draw for this year’s event is the participation ofโ Chilean influencer Pancha Sky, known for her workโ in gaming and โtechnology, and โขformerly the face of Riot Games. her presence is expected to attract a notable digital community interested in the intersection of video games and artificial intelligence.
