former Netflix Executiveโ Peter Friedlander โขNamed Head of Global TV atโ amazon MGMโ Studios
CULVER CITY,โ CA – September 25, 2024 – Peter Friedlander, the former head of โฃscripted U.S. and Canadian television atโ Netflix, is joining Amazon MGM Studios as itsโค new head of global TV, the company โคannounced today.Friedlander will oversee the studio’s original TV portfolio โขin the U.S., as well as global tentpole titles, MGM Television, and MGM Alternative.
The appointment fills a vacancy left by Vernon Sanders’ recent departure from โฃAmazon โฃMGM Studios. Friedlander brings a wealth of experienceโข from his more than โขdecade-long tenure at Netflix, whereโข he played a pivotal โฃrole in developing and launching some โof the โขstreaming service’s most successful โคseries.
During his four-plus years leading โขNetflix’s scripted seriesโ division, Friedlander oversaw showsโ including Wednesday, Bridgerton,โ Emily in Paris, Monster, Ozark, Theโค Queen’s Gambit, Stranger Things, The Night Agent, 3 Body Problem, and Black Mirror. He initially joined Netflix inโฃ 2011 as the company’s first dedicated originalโฃ series โขemployee, contributing to early hits like House of cards and Orange Is The New Black.

Prior to Netflix, Friedlander was an executive at Playtone, the production company founded by Tomโ Hanks and Gary Goetzman,โ whereโ he producedโฃ the Emmy-nominated drama Big Love โand worked as a creative executive on various โคfeature films. He began โhis careerโ working on โคfilm sets, including Road to Perdition โฃ andโฃ Austin Powers in Goldmember.
Friedlander begins his new role on October 6.
