Chilean Consumers have 10 Days to Reverse Onlineโ Purchases
santiago, Chile – Chilean consumers have the right to return products purchased online,โค by telephone, or thru catalogsโข within 10 days of receipt, no justification needed, according to the National consumer Service (SERNAC). This “right of withdrawal” allows shoppers to simply “regret” a purchase and โreceive a refund.
The right applies specifically โขto remote purchases – those not made in person. However, it extendsโ to in-person purchases where the consumer didn’t have directโข access to the product beforehand. SERNAC mandates โคcompanies provide written confirmation of the contract; failure to do so extends the withdrawal period โto 90 days.
This right is distinct from the legal guarantee, which covers product defects โขor failures. โขToโ exercise the right of withdrawal, consumers โmust return the product with proof of purchaseโข (receipt, bank statement, etc.) and informโฃ the โขseller of their decision.
Certainโฃ items are exempt, including those that cannot beโ returned due โคto their โnature (installed appliances), โperishableโ goods with short shelf lives, custom-made products, and sealed items for personal hygiene.
Consumers facing difficulties exercising their right of withdrawal can file a โฃcomplaint with SERNAC via their online portal, by callingโ 800 700 โข100, or visiting a SERNAC customer service office.
