Italianโ Police Seize 21 Alleged Fake Salvador dalรญ Works
PARMA, Italy – Italian police seized โ21โค artworksโ attributed too Salvador Dalรญ atโฃ a gallery in Parmaโค on Tuesday, October 1, 2025, following doubts about their authenticity. The exhibition, which opened September 26, had been planned โto feature 80 works by the Spanish surrealist artist.
Concerns were โคinitially raised during โa routineโข check in January when theโ exhibition โฃwas โคdisplayed in Rome. Investigators noted theโ collection consisted primarily of lithographs, posters, and drawings,โค lacking meaningful paintings โฃor other major works.
“It โคwas challengingโค to understand why anyone would like to organize an exhibition with works ofโฃ such low value,” said Diego Poglio, who led the investigation.
Theโ Dalรญ Foundation, which manages the artist’s estate, โconfirmed they had not been contacted by the โexhibition organizers.Photos sent to the โFoundation wereโ unable to verifyโ the artworks’ authenticity, leading prosecutors to authorize the seizure.
No suspects have been identifiedโฃ at thisโค time. The seized artworks will undergo technical examination โขto determine if โฃthey are forgeries.
