DKI Jakarta Election Commission announced the registration requirements for candidate pairs for governor and deputy governor of DKI Jakarta 2024. Chairman of the DKI KPU Wahyu Dinata said that the minimum requirement for valid votes for a political party or a combination of political parties to nominate candidates for governor and deputy at least 7.5%.

“First, the requirements to receive valid votes from political parties or combinations of political parties in the Regional DPRD member elections 2024, as a requirement to submit pairs of candidates from political parties or combinations of political parties in the election of governors and deputy -governors of regional areas in the special region of the capital Jakarta, which is at least 7.5%,” said Wahyu Dinata at the press conference announcing the registration of candidates for governor and deputy governor of DKI Jakarta 2024, at the DKI KPU, Central Jakarta, Saturday (24/8/2024).

“As expected, there are at least 454,885 valid votes in the special capital region of Jakarta,” he continued.

This decision is in the order of DKI Jakarta Provincial KPU Number 102/2024. At the same time, based on the decision of DKI Jakarta Provincial KPU number 94/2024, the candidate pair Dharma -Kun was also declared to have passed the Independent Election Path.

“Komjen Pol Dharma Pongrekun and Kun Wardana with a total support of 677,067 and distribution in six districts/cities,” he said.

In addition, the DKI KPU also stipulates that the minimum requirements for regional head candidates are 30 years and 25 years for governors, deputy governors or mayors or deputy mayors of the start from recruiting pairs of regional head candidates. DKI KPU follows the decision of the Constitutional Court.

“Yes, it is true that (both Decisions of the Constitutional Court) were accepted, this is in accordance with the Decision of the Constitutional Court. Regarding this matter, the DKI Jakarta KPU has set requirements for the number of seats and valid votes for each region for the regional KPU,” he concluded.

The Chairman of DPP PDIP, Deddy Sitorus, confirmed that he is the General Chairman of PDIP Megawati Soekarnoputri learned about the latest Constitutional Court (MK) decision regarding the 2024 provincial elections Deddy even said that Megawati knew about the decision earlier.

“Even Miss Mega knew before us,” Deddy told reporters at the PDIP DPP, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (20/8/2024).

He confirmed that Mega had given specific instructions on the decision. Despite that, Deddy is still reluctant to show it.

“Yes (special instructions) but it’s impossible for me to tell you, it won’t be special anymore,” Deddy said.

Deddy acknowledged that he was grateful for the decision in case number 60/PUU-XXII/2024. He said that MK had returned to status.

“In the past we were constitutionally betrayed, now it seems that the Constitutional Court has restored the dignity of that institution, leading to a decision that we thinking that is very important,” said Deddy.

He previously said that there was a tendency to create empty boxes in various regions in the 2024 regional elections including the tendency to lock PDIP so that it could not move or nominate freely in the contest.

“I think this is an important victory for all of us, because with the new decision we can ensure that there will be more than one candidate couple in each region,” said Deddy.

“This means that the possibility of an empty box is getting smaller. And this will make political costs cheaper as well. This is definitely a victory for the people and indeed for democracy,” he concluded.
