Magdeburg,Germany – A record number of cyclists โคparticipated in this year’s “City Cycling” campaign across Saxony-Anhalt,demonstrating a growing commitment to sustainable transportation,according to results released today. Teh initiative, running from โคMay to โคSeptember, encourages teamsโ -โค including companies โand school classes – to maximize bicycle kilometers loggedโค over 21 consecutive days.
the campaign,โฃ organized by the “Climateโฃ Alliance Service,” saw โespecially high activity in Magdeburg and Halle, with โparticipants covering approximately 660,000 and 500,000 kilometers respectively. Dessau-Roรlau and the Bรถrde district also reported meaningful โฃparticipation.
The Germanโ Bicycle Clubโข (ADFC) Saxony-Anhalt noted a consistent three-year โฃincrease in cycling participation throughout the state,โ indicatingโค a shift towards prioritizing bicycle infrastructure and usage. โฃtheโข campaign is fundedโข by the state and the “bicycle-pleasant municipalities”โฃ working group.
Nationwide, over 1.2 million people took part in “City Cycling” thisโ year, with Berlin, Hanover, Munich, Hamburg, andโฃ Leipzig leading in โขtotal kilometers cycled.Magdeburg achieved 115th place nationally.
