KANSAS CITY,Kan. (KCTV) – โฃA new immersive art โขexperience, Atlas9, has opened its doors to the public, transforming โa seemingly ordinary building into a “living” cinematic universe.
The narrative-driven venue emulates a 1990s movie theatre goneโข haywire, allowing visitors to step inside a โฃfilm. โคAtlas9 features 35 uniquelyโ designed rooms, each offering a different interactive experience. One room boasts interactive touch-panels that bring art to life, while another recreates a 1990s party โขscene โคwith oversized props. Visitors can even interact with stacks of old movies and televisions that play music โupon touch.
“Atlas9, in aโค few words, is an immersive art experience,” said Executive Creative Director Randall Statler. “So,โค it is a narrative-driven โคvenue where you can โคwalk in as a visitor and โฃwalk through a variety of rooms.”
Statler explained that visitors โขwill feel as tho โthey โareโค “walking โขthrough momentsโค within those โmovies,” potentially becoming the hero or appearing โขon a movie poster.
The project is the result of โคa collaboration involving at โฃleast 250 artists. “Everyโข detail matters and making sure each and everyโ room and artistic kind of form of expression matches that overallโ narrative,” โStatler said.
Atlas9 is designed to be anโข evolving space, with plans toโ host future events andโ showcase artwork from others. “We want to be able toโ kind of have that be a venue, not just a thing you go in โand see,” Statler added, โ”And it’s another thing you can participate in time or eventually have your work here.”
