Delhi-NCR on Rainfall Alert:โค Gurugram Shifts to Work-From-Home, Schools Closed
New Delhi – September 2, 2025 – Heavy rainfall across the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR) has prompted authorities toโข issue alerts and implement precautionaryโค measures. Gurugram is the hardest โhit, with the district administration issuing a work-from-home advisory for allโฃ corporate offices and private institutions,โ and directing all schools to conduct online classes today, September 2nd.
Gurugram recorded overโค 100mm of rainfall between 3 pm and 7 pm yesterday, triggering โขthe Orange Alert from the Indian Meteorological Department forecasting โคheavy to very heavy rainfall. The advisory stated, “In view of the โฃforecast, all corporate offices and private institutions in the district are advised โคto allow employees to work from home. All schools are advised to conduct online classes on 02-09-2025.”
While Gurugram has shifted to remote operations, Noida and โฃDelhi are currently operating as usual, โwith schools and offices functioning normally. However, residents across the NCRโ are urged to stay updated with weather forecasts โขand plan their travel accordingly, as waterlogging and traffic โฃdisruptions are expected in some areas.
Adding to concerns, officials are closely monitoring the โฃYamuna River, warning that โwater levels couldโข surpass the danger mark of 205.33 โคmeters at the Old Railway Bridgeโข (ORB) by this evening. This follows a surge in water discharge from Haryana’s Hathnikund barrage, which rose toโค over 3.22 lakh cusecs. A flood warning has been issued as a result.
The Met department predicts the pleasant, though wet, weather will continueโ throughโค the week, with light to moderate showers expected intermittently. Skies will remain cloudy โtoday, September 2nd, but a fresh spell of rain with thunder and lightning is predicted for September 3rd.
Travelers are also advised to prepare for potential disruptions. IndiGo โขissued a travel advisory warningโข passengers of โขslower traffic towards the โฃairport and recommendingโ they planโค their commute in advance and check their flight status. Air India has also urged passengers to check flight status in advance.
