After her year in New Zealand, Karin (Maren Kroymann) returns to Germany full of enthusiasm and energy. And she will need a lot of both: together with her friends Philippa (Barbara Sukowa) and Gerhard (Heiner Lauterbach), she takes over the management of a school store – including pubescent teenagers, wild party nights and love affairs for young and old. No question: the new tasks are tough and turn the lives of everyone involved upside down.

The CINEWORLD Mainfrankenpark is presenting the wonderful comedy “Grandchildren for Advanced Students” in its film café on Thursday, October 19th. It starts at 3 p.m. with delicious specialties from the cake and tart manufacturer “Tortenglück” from Westheim. The cinema team also serves aromatic coffee. The film starts at 4 p.m.

Two cars have ended up in a ditch in the Main-Spessart district since Wednesday evening. In both cases the drivers were drunk.

​On Wednesday evening, a 65-year-old man was driving his car and trailer from Wiesenfeld towards Karlburg. He left the road to the right. The alcohol test showed a level of 1.2 per mille and the 65-year-old had to hand over his driver’s license. There was material damage amounting to 5,000 euros.

​Early Thursday morning, a 61-year-old wanted to turn around between Zellingen and Leinach. However, he also ended up in the ditch. When the accident was recorded, the officers noticed a clear smell of alcohol – the alcohol test showed a level of 1.6 per mille. He now has to answer for drunk driving.

Anyone who would like to work for integration in the region and at the same time get involved in helping refugees can train as a job coach in Würzburg at the end of October. These are volunteers who, in their free time, help people from other countries find work or training here.

Registration for the two-day workshop is open until Monday. The future job coaches are taught how they can support the refugees.

The free workshop is organized by the city of Würzburg and the Main-Spessart district. It will take place on Friday, October 20th from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday, October 21st from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Würzburg town hall.

A 39-year-old motorcyclist sustained serious injuries on Monday afternoon in the Main-Spessart district.

The 39-year-old was riding his motorcycle on the B27 in Karlstadt. At the same time, a 36-year-old car driver was driving on the B27 near the fire department there. The 36-year-old overlooked the motorcyclist. There was a crash. The motorcyclist fell and suffered a broken collarbone. He was taken to a clinic in an ambulance.

There was material damage to both vehicles amounting to around 1,700 euros.

The Chamber of Crafts for Lower Franconia has chosen the best trainees in the region. Of the 46 best trainees in each guild, 21 come from the Würzburg, Kitzingen and Main-Spessart area.

The young craftsmen were able to shine at the Lower Franconian championship with top performances in the journeyman test and their journeyman pieces.

This means they are automatically qualified for the craft championship at the state level. Bavaria’s best trainees will then compete in the German championship.

Last year, the heat, cold and sound insulation insulator Kenan Tiro from Thüngersheim took first place at the German championship.
