Granadaโค Dental Clinic Ownerโ Faces Fraud Allegations from Dozens of Patients
Approximately thirty customers have filed complaints against the owner โof a Granada dental clinic, โalleging โa fraudulent scheme involving unfinished treatments โขandโข misappropriated funds.โ Patients claim they paid the entrepreneur, โeither through credit or thousands of euros โin cash, for dental work that was either incomplete or improperly executed.โ
A sign posted at the โclinic’s former location seeking affected individuals led to theโข organization of aโค collective complaint for fraud and improper appropriation. Those affected fear losing theirโ money and warn others about theโค potential for โsimilar experiences with the entrepreneur, who is reportedly โขplanning to open a new clinic in the same neighborhood.
Clients โฃhave filed reports with the National Policeโ and are seeking assessments from other dental professionals โregarding the status of their ongoing treatments while preparing a formal legal demand. Lawyer Francisco Javier Ortega Pardo,โข of the Lexforma law firm, is โrepresenting theโ affected clients.
“The deception consisted both inโ offering treatments to patients with the โintention,โ perhaps, of not โขfinishing them,” Ortega Pardo explained. “They were proposed at a time when he already knew that he had โขto move from the place to keep the money.โ He charged โon mannyโค occasions โand took advantage of the situationโข of the patients. He insisted on seeking financing for treatments that, in some cases, were above their real needs.” He further alleges a “pyramidal scam,” suggesting the businessman may have used funds from new patients to coverโ the costs of previous treatments and frequently changed clinic personnel due to payment defaults.
The businessman, whoโค is not a dentist, reportedly hiredโ orthodontists, surgeons, โdoctors, andโข prosthodontists to provide services to patients. The clinicโ opened in 2021 andโ ceased โoperations at โคthe beginning of theโ current year. The owner ofโข the leased premises evicted the entrepreneur due โto non-payment of rent.
Patients โnow face the prospect of needing to โinvest further โคfunds in another clinic โคto โขcompleteโ their dental work. Despite repeated โrequests, they โhave not received refunds or their clinicalโ records,โ according toโข complainants.
The businessman, whenโค contacted by ideal, stated he โคclosed theโค clinic due to a personal problem and anticipates opening a new location by the end ofโ theโ year. “I have not cheated anyone,” he claimed. “If I haveโ to do any return, โI have 2,500โ patients and โขI have referred customers to other dentists. I have a lot of damage and the harassment โขhas been continued.”โฃ However, customers report that dentists contacted as referrals were often unaware of the โsituation and reluctant to accept patients fromโ the previous clinic.
