Title: Taylor Momsen Reflects on Childhood, Music, and “The Grinch

by Emma Walker – News Editor October 11, 2025
written by Emma Walker – News Editor

taylor Momsen Reflects on Past Roles, Battles with darkness, and Rediscovering Joy

Los Angeles, CA – Taylor Momsen, frontwoman of The Pretty Reckless, is embracing all facets of her artistic journey, from her music to her early acting roles, after confronting⁤ a period of intense personal struggle. ⁤Momsen, known to a generation for her portrayal of Cindy Lou Who‍ in How the Grinch Stole⁤ Christmas, is now finding peace by revisiting and recontextualizing her entire body of work.

Momsen recently shared that she reached a critical turning point several years ago, acknowledging ⁣a path that led ‌toward self-destruction. “Living in that space, I had ⁢to make a⁣ very conscious⁢ decision at one point of I was on a very bad path, and I was going⁤ to die. I‍ had to choose if I was going to live or die, and I made a very conscious decision to move forward,” she revealed. This decision sparked a journey of self-discovery, rooted in reconnecting with the passions of her youth and accepting all chapters of her life.

The process began with a painful⁣ silence.Following personal losses, Momsen found herself unable to listen to music, a longtime source of solace. “To lose an outlet like that, where this music has been such a solace for me, to not have that anymore was terrifying. I felt like I⁣ really lost myself,” ‍she explained. She then began systematically reintroducing elements of her childhood that brought her joy, starting with The Beatles. This extended to revisiting her film and television work, “accepting ⁢them and seeing them in a new light.”

Momsen’s reflections come‍ after the release of The Pretty Reckless’s fourth studio album, Death by Rock and⁤ Roll (2021), which was inspired by⁤ the ⁣difficult years she navigated. She describes a‍ shift ⁤from striving to become someone to simply being herself.”I was always very me, but…you go through ‌phases.I had my rebellious ⁤youth, where I was extra angsty. I wanted to be something and was fighting for that, and now I just kind of am and that’s just a really nice place to be,” she saeid.”I just feel very comfortable in my own skin and all ⁣aspects of myself, and I’m not living in a place where ⁣I’m shutting off any part ‍of me. I’m firing on all cylinders, and it’s good.”

Ultimately, Momsen feels a renewed connection to her core ⁣self. “I’m still that little girl humming, walking up the ‍mountain. I really am.”

Still Holding On: Pierce the Veil’s Hard-won Victories Follow From Tragedy

by Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor October 11, 2025
written by Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor

Pierce the Veil’s latest album, The Jaws of Life, arriving after a ‌seven-year recording hiatus, is already ⁢fueling a creative surge for the band, informed by both ⁤tragedy and viral ⁤success. The⁤ album, born from a period⁢ of personal loss‍ and‌ creative recalibration, is not only resonating with longtime fans but also attracting a new audience through TikTok, positioning the band for a quicker return to the studio.

the album’s ⁤creation was deeply impacted by the passing of vocalist vic Fuentes‘s sister. Fuentes channeled grief and a desire ⁤for renewed creative energy into‌ the ⁣project, ultimately choosing New Orleans as the recording location for its ‍unique atmosphere. “We wanted to⁢ make ‌something that felt really special and different,” Fuentes explained, a‌ sentiment reflected in⁤ the ⁤album’s blend of aggressive energy ⁣and introspective lyrics.

The first song recorded, “Pass the Nirvana,” was conceived as an aggressive opener, built around a “growling guitar riff” and a nod to grunge influences. fuentes even directly references producer Paul Meany ⁢in the lyrics: “power until the target bleeds / This⁤ gun (this ‌gun) will never⁤ turn⁢ on me /‌ So, Paul⁤ Meany, will you drop that beat?” He now considers it one‌ of his favorite ⁢songs to perform live, describing⁢ the ‌writing process as⁤ “weird” and “hard to ‍figure out.”

In contrast ‍to the song’s intensity,”So‌ Far So Fake” has become a viral sensation⁢ on TikTok,with users creating videos featuring “slinky butt moves.” Fuentes jokes about hoping for “the sexiest trend in music,” but acknowledges the song’s role in expanding the band’s fanbase.

The band experienced a similar ⁣boost with the ⁢song “King for a Day” ⁣during a period of‌ inactivity,a phenomenon Fuentes attributes ⁣to fan engagement. “You ⁢just gotta sit back and be thankful for the fans doing it⁣ and ⁣just ride it and ⁤see what happens,” he said.

Looking ‌ahead, Pierce the Veil intends to maintain momentum and avoid ⁣another lengthy‍ gap between⁤ albums. Guitarist Tony Preciado emphasized the desire to “not take seven years” ‌for the ‌next release, ⁣a sentiment echoed by Fuentes, who highlighted the positive “flow-state” within the band and‍ their entire creative team.”We want to keep the ball rolling and keep the creativity flowing,” Fuentes stated. ‌They are already discussing a new‌ recording location ⁤to inspire their ⁤next project.
