Poland prepares for Billie Jean King Cup Play-Offs in Gorzรณw wielkopolski
Gorzรณw โขWielkopolski,โ Poland – November 10, 2024 – The Polishโค women’sโ tennis team isโ set to competeโ in the Billie jean King Cup Play-Offs, beginning Friday, November 14th,โ in Gorzรณw Wielkopolski.โฃ This marks the second time poland hasโฃ hosted a major women’s tennis event this year, following the April billie โJean King Cup qualifying matches in Radom โwhere Ukraine secured advancement to theโ September finals in โShenzhen, finishing ahead of Poland and Switzerland.
The November tournament will utilize a Round Robin format. โขPoland will open their โcompetition against New Zealand on November 14th, followed by a match against Romania on November 16th. Each day will โคfeature two โsinglesโ matches and one โdoubles match. Romania and โNew Zealand โwill โขplay eachโ other on โNovember 15th.
The winners ofโค the seven Play-Off groups, including Group B where Poland is competing, willโค qualify for the BJK Cup 2026 qualifications, which will revert to a โขhome-and-awayโ match system. The remaining 14 teams will be placed in Group I.
Last year,Poland reached theโข finals โขof the competition but โwere eliminated in โthe semi-finals by Italy. iga ลwiฤ tek played a key role in that run,โค winningโ three singles matchesโค against Paula Badosa, Linda Noskova, and Jasmine Paolini, and also one doubles match alongside Katarzyna Kawa. though,โค a crucial doubles match ultimately led toโค their defeat.
ลwiฤ tek is also scheduled to โฃcompete inโ the WTA Finals in Cancun, Mexico (November โข1-8) before joiningโข the Polish team.Captain Dawid โCelt has yet to announce the full โขsquadโ for the BJK Cupโค matches, but willโ select four additional players to join โฃลwiฤ tek.
