ICE โEyes Oklahoma City for Expanded Immigration Enforcementโ Operations
OKLAHOMA CITY -โข U.S. Immigration and Customsโข Enforcement (ICE) is planning to considerablyโข expand it’s presence in Oklahoma City asโข part of a nationwide effort to โคbolster immigration enforcement. Theโข agency is actively seeking office space in the city to โคaccommodateโ approximately 10,000 new officers and lawyers, according to recent reports and federal records.
The expansion comesโ after Congress approved a tripling of ICE’s budget and aโค $45 billion commitment to newโฃ immigrant detention centers this summer. Officials withโฃ the General Services Administration (GSA) wereโฃ recently approached by ICE staff to procure 300 new offices acrossโ the country, The โฃWashington Post โ reported.
Online GSA records confirm an active bid for lease proposals requesting “as-is, fully-finished and furnished office space in support of administrative operations for law enforcement”โ specifically in Oklahoma City. ICE isโฃ looking โคfor โa 10-year lease on a space between 11,500 and 18,500โ square feet, requiring roughly 80% privateโข officeโค space and the remainder as cubicles. โTheโค desired location also includes a dedicated serverโค room and soundproofed rooms for confidential discussions.
Oklahoma City is one of 19 citiesโ targeted for expansion, primarily located in the South and Midwest. Other locations include Birmingham, Alabama; Boise, Idaho; Charleston, South โฃCarolina; and Tampa, Florida.
The GSA bid request outlinesโค “level 2 facility security” requirements, detailing protocols for building access, โฃexteriorโ markings indicating governmentโฃ operation, and landscaping standards.
