Pioneering Psycho-Oncologist Luciana Murru to Present Book in Vigevano, Highlighting Holistic Cancer Care
Vigevano, Italy – February 27, 2026 – Psychologist and psychotherapist Luciana Murru, a pioneer in the field of psycho-oncology in Italy, will present her book, “L’altra metà della cura” (“The Other Half of the Cure”), this Saturday, February 28th, at 5:00 PM in the Sala del Duca of the Castello Visconteo in Vigevano. The event is free and open to the public.
The presentation will include a discussion with journalist Marta Cervino, and will focus on the importance of aesthetic oncology treatments for women undergoing cancer treatment, aiming to improve their overall psycho-physical well-being.
The event is connected to the “Oggi scelgo la gioia” (“Today I Choose Joy”) project, launched in 2023, which provides free beauty treatments and support to patients undergoing cancer therapy. The project is run by volunteers from the “T-Clar – Esteticamente benessere” association, certified beauticians offering their expertise. It is supported by the Movimento Donne Impresa di Confartigianato Lomellina, an organization promoting female entrepreneurship and social initiatives. The volunteers operate out of a dedicated space in Palazzo Roncalli.
Murru’s book details the development of psycho-oncology in Italy, drawing on her experiences with numerous patients. It emphasizes the importance of addressing the human dimension of illness, restoring dignity, strength, and confidence alongside medical treatment. The book explores themes of affection, community, beauty, and self-awareness in navigating illness. It is available at the event itself.
