[Comment from Head Coach Casey Owens]
Q. Review of today
I am proud of the players who played a great match against Shiga, who are number one in the West Region. I think being able to maintain communication throughout the 40 minutes and controlling the rotation led to a good result. We will also hold a public practice on Wednesday, January 24th. We want to show our boosters that we are starting to change. I would be happy if everyone could come and spend some time with the players.

[#13 Takeo Nagano player comment]
Q. Review of today
The game started out the same as yesterday, and we were pushed by our opponents, but I think we were able to catch up little by little by working hard on rebounding and defending. At halftime, Kyle encouraged everyone by saying, “Let’s fight physically and play hard so that everyone can grab each rebound and loose ball,” and the team came together as one. I think being able to compete in the second half led to the victory. In the future, instead of attacking on my own, I would like to become a player who can spread the ball well and score the necessary points.

[#34 Yoshi Endo comment]
Q. Review of today
I think we won today’s game because of our energy, which led to our victory. We had some stumbling blocks at the beginning of the game, but after that I think we were able to be aggressive on both offense and defense. On offense, the ball was circulating well and we were able to take shots. On defense, I was able to consciously stop the opponent’s players and stop them, so I think it was good. We have been able to win the last few games, so we would like to continue with this momentum and finish next week’s match against Ehime with two consecutive wins.

Comment from head coach Atsushi Ohno

Q: How do you feel about the enthusiasm of the boosters for the team?
A: I think the best part was being able to break the winning streak as a team in front of so many boosters.
It was really nice to see everyone’s smiles.

Q: What do you think about winning 9 consecutive games?
A: There are some players who are absent, but I think everyone stepped up and played through the nine games.
Of course, I’m doing this to win, so I’ll continue to work hard to improve my record.

Q: Please tell us your aspirations for the future.
A: It’s only half of the season over, so I don’t think we’re at the stage where we can say anything about the rankings or CS.
There are still 29 games left, and we don’t know what kind of accidents will happen in the future or whether we can continue to stay healthy.
However, what we can do is to do our best in each match, and to grow as much as we can as a team through the 60 games, and we will continue to focus on that.

#16 Kenny Asano player comment

All of my teammates were very excited today, and Dudzinski and Clark didn’t feel like they were going to miss a shot even when I was watching them from the sidelines, so I think we were able to execute the offense really well as a team.
In terms of defense, it was good for us as a team to limit the number of goals we conceded, but I personally feel that we need to improve a little more.

Q: Your field goal success rate was 100% (3/3) in both games this season, how do you feel when you look back on it?
A: I’m a player who hasn’t had a career in the B League, so I’m able to play without any scouting from the opposing team and with little pressure, and I’m able to play with the feeling that if I wait, my teammates will find me. .
The reason we weren’t scoring in the second half was because we weren’t able to move off the ball to take shots, so I’d like to learn from the movements of our seniors, including Kanemaru, and incorporate them into my own. I am thinking.

Q: How is your relationship with your teammates?
A: I have received a lot of help.
I spend a lot of time playing with Ravena, and when I commit a foul, he gives me positive words like, “Keep your chin up and look forward,” and even on the bench, captain Sasaki and Yamauchi talk to me, “Keep your chin up and look forward. He gives me advice like, “This place was good, but this place is better this way,” so I think I’m growing day by day.

B.LEAGUE ALL-STAR GAME WEEKEND 2024: Winners and Records Revealed

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com January 13, 2024
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

The Japan Professional Basketball League (Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, Chairman: Shinji Shimada, hereinafter referred to as “B.LEAGUE”) held “B.LEAGUE ALL-STAR GAME WEEKEND 2024 IN OKINAWA” DAY2. The results are as follows.

■Winners and records of various contests
[G-SHOCK SKILLS CHALLENGE]Yokohama Bee Corsairs/Yuki Kawamura (2nd time in a row) *Record: 21.2 seconds
[3POINT CONTEST]Ryukyu Golden Kings/Ryuichi Kishimoto (first) *Record: 21 points (1st all-time)
[DUNK CONTEST]Chiba Jets/Dee Jay Steffens (first)
*2021 will not be counted as it will be held online and the rules will be different.

■Comments from various contest winners
[G-SHOCK SKILLS CHALLENGE]Yuki Kawamura (Yokohama B-Corsairs)
I think this excitement is the real thrill of being an All-Star. Of course we enjoy ourselves, but what makes us happy is that our fans enjoy it. I think I had a role like that (to entertain) in Skills Challenge, so I’m really happy that I was able to fulfill that role. I’m a little disappointed that I couldn’t surpass my results from last year, but I was most happy that the fans were so excited and had so much fun.

[3POINT CONTEST]Ryuichi Kishimoto (Ryukyu Golden Kings)
I thought I wasn’t the type of person to compete in contests, so in that sense, it really gave me confidence. There were times when I made consecutive shots and everyone cheered louder and I was able to get on board. If I had to force it, I would have liked to have made the coconut three at the end, but I would like to make it during the All-Star Game.

[DUNK CONTEST Winner]Dee Jay Steffens (Chiba Jets)
I knew there were high expectations from the moment the participants in the dunk contest were decided. I wanted to show off a dunk that you’ve never seen before. I practiced on the sub court just before today, so it was actually my first time to dunk with Yuuki (Yuki Togashi) in the final. I’m really glad that I was able to show a great performance.

[B.LEAGUE ASIA RISING STAR GAME Basket LIVE On Fire Award]
RISING STARS #20 Shunsuke Ueda (Toyama Grouses)
Amidst the earthquake in the Hokuriku region, I was selected as a Rising Star to represent Toyama and received the On Fire Award. Although aftershocks are still occurring in Hokuriku, I believe that we as B.LEAGUE can revitalize Japan. I hope that the basketball world can bring courage and hope to everyone, including this All-Star and the second half of the games. I think the All-Star is a stage that everyone dreams of if they belong to the B.LEAGUE. I was more nervous, but it was a lot of fun.

Comment from head coach Atsushi Ohno

Q: How did you rebuild in the second half?
A: Number 1 is the execution part.
In the first half, we were on the back foot, and the bad flow of our offense that didn’t go well affected our defense as well, so we reaffirmed our mindset that the pace of our offense should come from our defense. I think the players did their best in the second half.

Q: Why does the team created by coach Ohno play at such a fast pace?
A: I believe that if I don’t find something interesting, the audience watching and the people who support me won’t find it interesting either.
The team is made up of players who match my style, and I’m trying to provide what I think is interesting, and the players are trying to figure out what will make the customers even more happy. I believe this is the result of sharing this with others.

#5 Comment from Sota Oura

I’m really happy that I was able to contribute to our first win against Chiba J since the B League started.

Q: What was the reason for the dramatic improvement from the bad parts in the first half to the third quarter?
A: One of our strengths is that we can play good offense and defense in a fast pace, but in the first half we couldn’t use that fast pace and played more half-court basketball, which ended up playing out the way Chiba J-san wanted. .
In the second half, we increased our tempo and played basketball, which I think led us to a positive direction from the third quarter.

#14 Comment from Kosuke Kanamaru

Today, from the start of the match, we couldn’t find our own pace and couldn’t do what we needed to do, and the first half ended with our opponent taking the lead.
In the second half, we were able to make adjustments to what our opponent had done in the first half, so I think we were able to win.

Q: I think Sanen’s strength is the bench point of 55 points like today, but how do you feel about your own response?
A: Whether it’s a player who comes off the bench or a player who starts from the starting position, what they need to do remains the same.
We follow a cycle in which the players who come on the court play hard, do what they need to do, and are replaced when they get tired.
Today there were parts where I was easily defeated by my defense, and I wasn’t able to do very important parts such as box outs that don’t show up in the stats in the first half, so I’ll have to work on that from the start of the game tomorrow. I would like to do so.

#1 Comment from Jante Mayten

We fought hard and had a great victory!
Especially in the second half, we increased the pace with our good defense, scored inside, outside, and at second-chance points, and were able to develop our own style of basketball.
Tomorrow, we will play basketball like we did in the second half from the start of the first half, and we will prepare to play the basketball we want to play throughout the game.

[Comment from Kota Mizuno HC]

“We were trying to win from the first half, but I think the game ended up not going our way.

Looking at the number of free throws, we had 9 and our opponent had 31. While we were playing hard on defense, the fact that Ryukyu hit so many free throws and made 26 made me think it was a difficult game for us to create our own flow.

However, in these difficult conditions, despite some foul troubles, unusual rotations, and other situations where it was difficult to achieve the development we wanted, the players continued to strive for victory until the end. There were times in the second half where we were able to go with the flow, so it’s very frustrating that we couldn’t win.

Regarding today’s match, no matter what situation we find ourselves in, our ultimate goal is to play calmly in order to win, and to become a team that can find victory even in difficult situations. We believe that this is necessary in order to achieve the goals we are aiming for.

Of course, the best thing to do is to prevent the game from unfolding like this from now on, but even if it does happen, we have to be patient and fight so that we can eventually come out victorious. I would like to build a team with the current members. ”

[Comment from Trey Jones]

“When I give press conferences, I always say, “I’m really happy when a game ends in a win, but I’m not happy when a game ends in a loss,” but I think today’s game was different.

I think we should be proud of what we did as a team in today’s match, and of course we didn’t end up winning, but the content was really good and I think we did well as a team. Masu.

This season, we haven’t been able to compete often with a full roster, and this weekend is Mike’s return match, so there’s always someone absent, so everyone is looking for a role that they can play. So I think we’ll have a very special rest of the season if everyone comes back. ”

[Comment from Ko Flippin]

“I think it was a tough game. We expected it to be a tougher game than yesterday, and I think it turned out just like that. Finally, the microphone came back at the end and everyone was together. For that reason, I think we are once again trying to figure out what we need to do as a team.

I am happy to be able to see the faces of Ryukyu fans who I am very familiar with today. ”

Comments from head coach Atsushi Ohno

Q: Although there hasn’t been much time since the away match against Mikawa, it seems like the issues have been improved, what do you think?
A: It’s a mindset issue, so I don’t think it was something we should have reflected on after losing.
After the recent loss, I think the players understood how they needed to approach the game, and to that end, we had a long film session during yesterday’s practice to confirm what we needed to do. , I think he expressed it today on the court.
In that sense, I’m really satisfied with today’s match.
I think we have to continue playing games like this.

Q: Are there any improvements for Game 2?
A: There were some small mistakes, but I think the reward was not continuing to make those mistakes.
The players realized their mistakes and knew what they needed to improve on, which led to today’s good match.
The key is whether or not we can quickly improve on mistakes that could happen tomorrow, and I think it’s important to continue with this mindset.

#0 Thirdy Ravena player comment

I think today’s game was one of the best we’ve ever played, both offensively and defensively.
Especially in terms of defense, we were able to execute our game plan almost perfectly, and I’m very happy that we were able to win.
We hope to put in the same effort and perseverance tomorrow and do our best to lead to another victory.

Q: You scored 17 points, the most on the team, how do you look back?
A: As I said earlier, I think today was one of the best matches we’ve ever played, both as a team and as individuals.
I feel that my teammates created things for me, created situations where I could utilize my strengths, and put me in those positions, which led to my performance today.

#4 Comment from Coty Clark

It was a really good match.
I think we were able to win because we made solid defensive adjustments starting with our away match against Mikawa.

Q: I think there were some areas that were lacking in the away match against Mikawa, but what were the factors that allowed you to make improvements?
A: I think what’s important right now is the mental aspect rather than the physical aspect.
I think the reason I was able to make solid adjustments over the past two days was largely due to my mental aspect.
We are a team that has been completely reborn, unlike the Sanen Neo Phoenix of the past, and we are currently number one in the Central District, so every opponent enters the game with a strong desire to beat us. Most of the time they come.
So, after head coach Ohno told us that we had to adjust our mentality to that standard, we were able to take on today’s game with that mentality firmly in mind, which made us proud over the past two days. I feel like I’ve made some solid adjustments.
You can’t train your mental health just by playing games, so I think the strength of our team is that everyone prepares with a mindset from the time they practice.
