Giorgio Armani‘s Funeral: Dignified Homage Paid by Italy’s Elite
(by paola Pollo) Milan – A somber yet dignified farewell is underway for fashion icon Giorgio Armani,whose funeral is being held today in a Milan theater adorned with white flowers and illuminated by lanterns. A clear coffin rests at the center of the room, a final view for those paying their respects.
Attendees are being greeted by Leo Dell’Orco and Andrea Camerana, nephew of the designer, with John Elkann and his wife, Lavinia Borromeo, among the first to enter, alongside privileged access granted to Armani employees.A display of Armani’s personal philosophy is prominently featured: a photograph from one of his shows accompanies his handwritten will stating, ”I hope that I hope to leave a commitment, respect and attention to people and for reality. It is indeed from there that everything begins.”
Floral tributes include an orchid pillow from the yacht Main Crew and a basket from Armani’s employees and managers. Guests are signing four black books containing portraits of the designer, offering words of esteem and affection.Confirmed attendees include Matteo Marzotto, Bonfiglio, Fabio Fognini and Flavia Pennetta, Donatella Versace, Aurelio and Jacqueline De Laurentiis, Margherita Buy, Isabella Ferrari, Mario Monti, Giuseppe Tornatore, Beppe Sala, francesca Malagò, Beppe Fiorello, Valeria Mazza, Graeme Black, Ettore Messina, Massimo Lopez, Alessandro Preziosi, Maria Grazia Cucinotta, Stefano Pilati, Mohamed Alabaar, and Fuksas.
Salvatores described Armani as “an example of humanity.”
