(CNN) – The Turkish presidency announced, in a statement, that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed by telephone with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman “the latest developments related to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.”
The statement added, “Erdogan said during the call on Wednesday that Turkey had begun taking the necessary steps to deliver aid to civilians affected by the attacks,” according to the Turkish Anadolu Agency.
The Turkish President stated: “The bombing of civilian population centers cannot be accepted, and it is important for countries in the region to send constructive messages to end the clashes,” according to the statement.
In Saudi Arabia, the Al-Ikhbariya channel said that Prince Mohammed bin Salman received a phone call from Erdogan, and during the call, “the military escalation currently taking place in Gaza and its environs was discussed.”
The channel added that the Saudi Crown Prince confirmed that “the Kingdom is making unremitting efforts in regional and international communication with the aim of joint coordination to stop the ongoing escalation.”
She added that Prince Mohammed bin Salman stressed “the Kingdom’s position rejecting targeting civilians in any way and taking innocent lives,” and emphasized “the necessity of observing the principles of international humanitarian law, and the necessity of stopping the attack on the Gaza Strip.”
He pointed to “Saudi Arabia’s firm position towards championing the Palestinian cause and supporting efforts aimed at achieving a comprehensive and just peace that guarantees the Palestinian people’s access to their legitimate rights.”
It is noteworthy that the war between the Israelis and the Palestinians, which entered its sixth day, broke out on Saturday after a surprise attack launched by “Hamas” on Israel, which declared war on the movement and launched raids on Gaza.
