‘Supernatural’ Stars Align for ‘The Boys’ Finale
As the fifth and final season of The Boys approaches, fans can anticipate a special treat orchestrated by Eric Kripke: a reunion of Supernatural stars within the series.
Ackles Teases Reunion
Jensen Ackles, known for his role as Soldier Boy, hinted at a reunion with his Supernatural co-stars Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins in the concluding episodes of the Prime Video series. The specific roles they will play remain a mystery.
Ackles shared insights into their off-screen camaraderie, “We see each other more often than you would think — honestly, at least once a month.”
The trio starred in Kripke’s CW series for 15 seasons.
Describing the experience, Ackles remarked, “It was weird. It was like inviting my friends over to somebody else’s house for dinner. I was like, ‘Listen, guys, don’t make me look bad. I got to stay here.’ They were amazing. I can’t wait to talk more about it because it was quite an experience.”
Padalecki Joins the Fun
Following Kripke’s expressed interest in collaborating with Padalecki for the final season, Padalecki confirmed his participation. He told Deadline, The answer is yes.”
We have talked [about a role]. As a matter of fact, we talked today,”
Padalecki added. “I think at this point in my acting life, I only want to work on projects that I really care about or with people that I really care about, and obviously Eric and I are indelibly connected forever.”
Following Ackles’s Season 3 debut as Soldier Boy, their Supernatural dad, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, appeared as Joe Kessler in Season 4.
Series Finale on the Horizon
Kripke recently concluded his time on The Boys set as the finale wrapped. “It’s bittersweet, but my primary feeling is gratitude,”
he shared. “We have the best cast, the best crew, the most fun story to write, and something that is impossible to predict: the right timing. You wait your whole career to have maybe two of those things, if you’re lucky. We got all of them.”
The final season of The Boys is slated for release in 2026. Recent data shows that superhero fatigue may be affecting the genre; in May 2024, a poll revealed that 38% of respondents felt there were too many superhero movies and TV shows (YouGov).
Season 4 achieved record-breaking success on Nielsen streaming charts, setting new benchmarks for Prime Video.
