Supermarket Chain Offers Double Value for Penniesโ asโ U.S. Mint Ends Production
Price Chopper and Market 32 supermarkets โคare โoffering shoppers double the value of their pennies following the U.S.โ Mint’sโฃ cessation of penny production on Nov. 12.โ The promotion,designed to assist customers with cash transactions,willโฃ run โคfrom 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. โขon Nov. 16.
Customers can exchange pennies for store gift cardsโข at a rate of two cents per penny, effectively doublingโ theirโ value. Such โas, $10 in pennies will yield a $20 gift card.
“Cash transactions remain an critically important part of how โคwe serve our customers,and for those whoโ prefer to pay with โฃcash,we want to make sure โคweโ can continue providing โขthe โsame great checkout experience-right down to the penny,” said Blaine Bringhurst,president of Marketโค 32โ and Price Chopper,inโ a statement.
The โขoffer applies to bothโฃ rolled and loose pennies, with a minimumโค exchange โamount of 50 cents โคand a maximum of $100 per customer. pennies can be exchanged at the customer service desk ofโ participating stores.
Price Chopper and โMarket 32 locations are found in Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and New York.
The chain will also launch a new holiday rewards program on Nov. 16.
