Ottawa‘s Cardiology Institute Launches Ambitiousโ ‘Aโ Million Hearts’ Screening Campaign
OTTAWA,ON – The University โof Ottawa heart Institute is โembarking on โa large-scale cardiovascular health โฃscreening โinitiative,dubbed “Aโ Million Hearts,” aimingโ to proactivelyโ identify and address risk factors for Canada’s leading cause of death.The campaign wasโข announced Tuesday with representatives fromโ all levels of government in attendance, โincluding โOttawaโข Mayor Mark Sutcliffe, Federal MP Yasir Naqvi, and Ontario MP Catherine โคMcKenney.
Cardiovascular disease remains the number one cause of โฃmortality in Canada and โคglobally, impacting hundreds of thousands of canadians annually. The Heart Institute, โwhich treats โover 200,000 patientsโ each year, hopes to shift the โfocus from reactive treatment to โpreventative care through this ambitious program. “The challenge isโ immense, โbut our determinationโ is just as much,” stated Dr. Rob Beanlands,โฃ Chairman andโ Chief Executive Officer of the Cardiology Institute.
