written by Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor

Beloved Bulgarian Comedic Duo Returns‍ to Stage in New Production

Sofia, Bulgaria ⁣- Fan favorites Lyubo Neykov and Nencho Ilchev, known for their comedic chemistry on television, are reuniting for a new theatrical performance ‌titled‌ “Butterflies in the Stomach,” which premiered October 4th. The play explores themes of love, friendship, and the complexities of life through a humorous lens, promising audiences a blend of laughter and poignant moments.

The production marks a return to the stage for the pair, who have enjoyed a 30-year friendship and a popular television presence with their show “Comedians.” “Butterflies in the stomach” centers on two ⁣men vying for the affection of a woman, portrayed‍ by ‍Lily sucheva, with Neykov playing an‌ ambitious⁢ television‍ producer ⁢struggling with his personal life and Ilchev as his longtime friend. The dynamic is further intricate by the introduction of ⁤Neykov’s father, played by Ivan Radoev, who portrays a character⁤ experiencing sclerosis.

Ilchev and Radoev share a history predating ⁢their time at the National Academy for⁣ Theater and Film Arts (NATFIZ), having previously attended acting studios together under director Boncho Urumov.⁢ This pre-existing rapport contributes to the play’s layered relationships.

According to Ilchev, the audience immediately recognized the genuine connection between himself and Neykov ⁣at the premiere. “They told me, ‘How do you see that you know each other and you are pleased to be together.’ that’s why we live – someone to make a blunder, make a mistake⁢ and the⁢ other to laugh. That’s how the performance is alive,” he told 24 Hours. He described the comedy as a⁣ scenario “with a lot of‍ sense,” adding, “it’s funny, it’s sad-it’s the most enjoyable to play and the⁤ best thing to watch.”

the play is directed by Nikolay gunderov,⁤ who received the Aleko Konstantinov Award for Satirical Standup Comedy‍ in 2020 for his play “Crochet Club” and the Askeer award for contemporary Bulgarian dramaturgy in 2017.

Carlos Nasar Category: Unusual Competitors and World Records at Norwegian Weightlifting World Cup

by Alex Carter - Sports Editor October 9, 2025

Weightlifting World Championships in Fjorde Highlight Emerging Talent and Political Tensions

Fjorde, Norway – The World‍ Weightlifting Championships currently underway in Fjorde are showcasing ⁢not only elite athletic prowess but also a‌ compelling mix of rising‍ stars and complex ‍geopolitical issues. Emerging as a force ⁣in his weight class is Carlos Nasar, who has demonstrated remarkable strength in ⁤training, reportedly‌ handling ⁢170 pounds without ‌difficulty during workouts. His potential performance is drawing comparisons too weightlifting legends as he prepares to compete alongside a ⁤roster of decorated athletes.

The championships are unfolding against a backdrop of debate regarding athlete neutrality, particularly concerning competitors from Russia and ⁤Belarus. This year’s ‍event marks Russia’s return to ⁣international competition after a four-year absence, albeit with restrictions. The situation underscores a growing call ⁤for the⁤ removal of neutral status designations, championed by European Weightlifting Federation President ‌Dr. Astrita Hasani, who argues such policies ⁣violate the core principles of Olympic sport and politicize athletic competition. ‍

Nasar’s ascent⁣ is particularly notable⁤ when ⁣viewed against the historical achievements of weightlifting greats. The all-time leader remains Vasily alekseev⁤ (USSR) with eight world ⁢championships. Close behind are Naim Suleimanoglu⁣ (Turkey/Bulgaria) and yurik ‌Vardanyan (USSR) with seven titles each, followed by Lasha Talahadze (Georgia) also with‌ seven. A select group including Joseph Grafl⁢ (Austria), Tommy Kono (USA), ⁤John ⁣davis (USA), ‍Yoshinobu Miyake (Japan), and David Rigert (USSR) ⁢have each‌ secured‌ six world‌ championships. Nasar ⁤aims to join this elite company, having already earned three gold medals.

Beyond the competition itself, logistical challenges and individual athlete⁢ experiences have added to the narrative. Bulgarian competitor Hristo Hristov faced travel disruptions, with his flight diverted ‍to another airport⁣ requiring⁣ a subsequent bus journey. Another athlete, from Tunisia, presented logistical difficulties due to⁤ his weight exceeding 160 kilograms.

Dr. Hasani’s recent open letter to IOC President Christie ⁢Coventry demands ‍the immediate⁢ end to neutral status⁢ for Russian and Belarusian ⁤athletes, asserting that sports should remain above political considerations. Of the 16 requests submitted by Russia for⁢ neutral status, ‍only seven were ⁣approved for participation in the Fjorde ⁣championships. The outcome of this debate could substantially impact ‍future⁢ international sporting events and the participation of athletes from affected nations.

Diesel Car Ban Risks: 7.8M Vehicles Face Legal Trouble in Germany

by Priya Shah – Business Editor October 6, 2025
written by Priya Shah – Business Editor

Germany Court ruling May Send 7.8‌ Million Diesel ⁣cars to Balkan Markets, Including bulgaria

A recent ruling by the Schleswig-holstein Supreme Administrative Court is poised to displace approximately⁢ 7.8 million diesel vehicles in Germany, possibly flooding Balkan automotive markets, ⁢including Bulgaria. The court found that these‌ vehicles utilize a defeat device – a mechanism that deactivates the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system under certain temperature‍ conditions – resulting in⁢ higher‌ emissions than legally ‍permitted during typical operation.

The decision compels manufacturers to either modify the affected engines to⁤ eliminate the “thermal window” software or remove the vehicles from German roads. While manufacturers argue that retrofitting ⁣older ⁣models is impossible and newer engine⁢ modifications would be prohibitively expensive, the ruling casts a ‌shadow over diesel car owners, devaluing their vehicles and⁣ increasing the risk of driving bans. The judgment is currently subject to⁣ appeal, but analysts predict a negative outcome for owners.

Vehicles ⁢adhering‍ to Euro 5 and ⁢Euro 6a-C emissions standards are most likely impacted, encompassing popular models from VW,Audi,Skoda,BMW,Mercedes, toyota,Volvo,Opel,Fiat, and Renault.

the⁤ German automotive industry ‌faces substantial financial strain should ⁤a traffic ban ‌or widespread repairs be mandated. Concurrently, the industry is already under pressure to meet increasingly stringent emission standards ⁤and transition to electric vehicles. Experts ‌anticipate⁢ a surge of these diesel vehicles into Eastern ‌European markets, where emission regulations may be less strict, and demand for affordable vehicles remains ‍high.
