Sisi: Egypt‘s Progress driven by Collective Effort, Warns Against Social Media Manipulation
Cairo, Egypt – August 6, 2025 – President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi today asserted that Egypt’s economic advancements adn improved living conditions are the direct result of nationwide collaboration, not solely governmental action or foreign aid. Addressing cadets at the Egyptian Military Academy in Cairo, President Sisi emphasized the importance of efficient, informed operation across all state sectors as the key to achieving national goals.”This is the outcome of the entire sectors of the state,” President Sisi stated, “and when these sectors operate efficiently, wiht knowledge and with great awareness, achievement can be realized, and the goals we’ve been able to attain and surpass are a testament to that.”
The President’s remarks come amid ongoing economic reforms aimed at stabilizing Egypt’s currency and attracting foreign investment, especially in the Red Sea Economic Zone and the Suez Canal Corridor Progress Project. Recent data from the Central Bank of Egypt indicates a 3.2% GDP growth in the last fiscal year, largely attributed to increased tourism revenue – up 15% year-over-year – and infrastructure projects.
However, President Sisi also cautioned against the potential for misuse of social media platforms, acknowledging their prevalence in modern dialog. He framed social media not as inherently negative, but as a tool whose impact depends entirely on user behavior.
“Social media, manny people tell you it’s evil, no, evil is yoru use of it,” he explained. “But it has very great benefits if you deal with it well.” He specifically urged cadets to limit non-essential phone use, advocating for focused engagement rather than constant connectivity.
President Sisi further warned that social media can be weaponized to undermine morale,spread misinformation,and erode national unity. He highlighted the risk of rumors and damaging rhetoric, emphasizing the need for critical thinking and discernment.
“we must understand that all [communication channels] are also used as a weapon directed at you, to reduce your morale, to spread rumors, to dismantle the will, solidarity and cohesion through very, very, very words,” he stated.
The President expressed confidence in the Egyptian people’s increasing awareness and resilience, stating his belief that citizens are becoming more adept at navigating complex facts landscapes. He concluded by stressing the vital importance of national unity for Egypt’s continued security and prosperity, particularly in light of regional instability and ongoing geopolitical challenges in the Horn of Africa and the Eastern Mediterranean.
