President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky Announces Dismissal of Top Commanders in Ukraine Military Overhaul

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com February 9, 2024
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Jakarta –

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announces the dismissal of top commanders Ukraine, General Valerii Zaluzhnyi. The dismissals are in the biggest military overhaul since the start of Russia’s massive invasion of Ukraine nearly two years ago.

In a Telegram post shared shortly before the official announcement, Zelensky said he had a meeting with Zaluzhnyi. Zelensky admitted to ‘discussing what kind of reforms the Ukrainian Armed Forces need.’

“The time for such an update is now,” wrote Zelensky in Telegram, reported by CNN, Friday (9/2/2024).

Zelensky has also appointed Zaluzhnyi’s replacement, namely Oleksandr Syrskyi, who since 2019 has served as Commander of the Ukrainian Army.

Zaluzhnyi wrote on his Telegram channel on Thursday that ‘the task of 2022 is different from the task of 2024’.

“Therefore, everyone has to change and adapt to the new reality as well. [Kami] just met with the Supreme Commander. It was an important and serious conversation. It was decided that we needed to change our approach and strategy,” Zaluzhnyi said in his telegram.

Rumors of Zaluzhnyi’s dismissal began circulating in Kyiv last week after he was called into a meeting at the president’s office and told he was fired, two sources familiar with the matter told CNN. Zelensky’s office initially denied the rumors, but the information was confirmed on Thursday.

Zaluzhnyi – who was appointed army chief by Zelensky in July 2021 – was offered the new position by the president, but he turned it down, according to one of the sources. It remains unclear whether Zaluzhnyi decided to remain involved with the military in some capacity.

Conflict between Poland and Ukraine over Grain Imports: President Zelensky’s UN Speech

Conflict between Poland and Ukraine over Grain Imports: President Zelensky’s UN Speech

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com September 21, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Jakarta –

President Volodymyr Zelensky’s speech at the UN General Assembly insinuating a ban on grain imports has thrown Poland and Ukraine into conflict. This even made Poland decide to stop supplying weapons to Ukraine.

Reported by AFP and Reuters, Thursday (21/9/2023), Zelensky in his speech before the UN General Assembly in New York, United States (US), said that Ukraine attempted to maintain land routes for grain exports. But he said there was a “political drama” that only helped Russia.

Not only that, Zelensky even said that several countries were pretending to express solidarity with Kyiv.

The comments drew a strong reaction from Poland, which condemned Zelensky’s remarks as “unjustified regarding Poland.” Moreover Poland has supported Ukraine since the first days of the war’.

Warsaw is known to have been one of Kyiv’s staunchest supporters since Russia launched its invasion in February 2022. But now the two countries are involved in a dispute after Poland, along with Hungary and Slovakia, extended a ban on Ukrainian grain imports to protect the interests of their farmers.

This situation began when the European Union, on Friday (15/9) last week, announced an end to the ban on imports of Ukrainian grain in five of its member countries.

The announcement was met with anger and sparked a unilateral embargo to which Kyiv responded by saying it would lodge a protest with the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Polish Prime Minister (PM) Mateusz Morawiekci, on Wednesday (20/9) local time, warned that the list of Ukrainian products prohibited for import would be expanded if Kyiv continued to escalate the dispute over grain.

The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has summoned the Ukrainian Ambassador Vasyl Zvarych to convey their protest.

“Putting pressure on Poland in multilateral forums or submitting complaints to international courts is not an appropriate method for resolving disputes between our countries,” the Polish Foreign Ministry said in a statement to Ambassador Zvarych.

It was also stated by the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs that Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs (Wamenlu) Pawel Jablonski had ‘expressed a strong protest from the Polish side against the statement made by President V Zelensky at the UN General Assembly yesterday, which accused several European Union countries of pretending to provide solidarity while indirectly supports Russia’.

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —

Penasihat Presiden Ukraina, Mykhailo Podolyak, mengecam Elon Musk for indirectly allowing Russian forces to attack Ukrainian cities after it was revealed that its Starlink satellite communications were interfering with drone operations.

Details of the incident are outlined in Walter Isaacson’s biography of Musk, which will be released on Tuesday (12/9). The book describes how the network shut down communications near the coast of the Russian-occupied Crimean Peninsula when Ukrainian drones approached Russian warships, resulting in a “loss of connectivity.”

According to the biographical book, Elon Musk allegedly ordered Starlink engineers to turn off communications, because he was worried that Russian President Vladimir Putin would retaliate against Ukraine’s attack on Crimea with nuclear weapons.

“I think if a Ukrainian attack succeeded in sinking the Russian fleet, it would be like a mini Pearl Harbor and cause a massive escalation,” Musk said. “We don’t want to be part of that,” he continued, as reported Al JazeeraSaturday (9/9).

Via the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), which belongs to Elon Musk, Podolyak launched a scathing attack on the technology billionaire from the United States (US).

In his post, Podolyak said that by not allowing Ukrainian drones to attack Russian warships, Musk was allowing this fleet to fire Kalibr missiles at Ukrainian cities. Actions he said resulted in the deaths of civilians and children.

Responding to quotes in the book, Elon Musk on Friday (8/9) said he rejected the request, saying he was afraid of being involved in a major act of war.

In a post on

“The goal is clearly to sink most of the Russian fleet at anchor,” Musk wrote.

“If I agree to their request, then SpaceX will be explicitly involved in a major act of war and conflict escalation,” he continued.
