Portland Libary Reopens to Louisville Communityโข After Extensive Renovation
LOUISVILLE,โข Ky. – The Louisvilleโ Free Publicโ Library celebrated the grand reopening of the Portland Library Tuesday,โข unveiling โฃa revitalized community spaceโ following a multimillion-dollar renovation of the โขhistoric Carnegie building adn a 5,400-square-foot addition. The modernizedโ library promises renewed opportunities for learning, connection, and growth for residents of the Portland neighborhood and beyond.
Originallyโ opened in 1913, โขthe Portland library serves asโฃ a vital hub for theโ community, offering resources โand programs for all ages. This extensive โขrenovation โ- the frist โขmajor overhaul in โฃover a โcentury – ensures the library can โcontinue to meet the evolving needsโ of Louisville residents in โคthe 21st century, providing access to technology, literacy resources, and a welcomingโ space for collaboration.
The project included significant upgrades to the existing structure, alongside theโฃ construction of aโ new addition, resulting in new books,โข increased computer โaccess, dedicated spaces โคfor โchildren โฃandโ teenagers, agreeable seating areas, and a public meeting room. Louisville Metro Councilwoman โฃDonna purvis emphasized โคthe library’s importance, โขstating, โข”Its reopening means our community onceโค again has a place toโ learn, connect, and grow together.
