Compiègne firefighters raised €4,300 for the Oise branch of the League Against Cancer following a 24-hour running challenge that concluded on February 15, 2026, according to local reports.
The event, which involved fire stations across the Oise department, saw 90 runners participate, either individually or in teams of five. Competitors ran in a friendly and convivial atmosphere, with the challenge open to the public. The funds raised will support cancer research and patient care within the region.
The top five-person team collectively covered 279 kilometers, although the most successful solo runner completed 135 kilometers. In total, all participants accumulated 4,971 kilometers of running throughout the 24-hour period.
Julien Dubuis, of the Compiègne fire station, stated that the event aimed to strengthen cohesion between fire departments in the Oise department and engage the community in their efforts. The challenge similarly coincided with awareness initiatives related to Breast Cancer Awareness Month, known as Octobre Rose in France.
The Compiègne fire department’s Facebook page highlighted the event with the hashtags #octobrerose, #cancer, #soutient (support), and #sapeurpompier (firefighter).
On February 7, 2026, the Oise fire department (SDIS 60) also reported on a separate incident – a fire in an apartment in Compiègne – on their Facebook page.
