Early voting gets underway this monday for the Nov. 4 election, in which Bexar County residents will decide whether to use public funding for a โnew Spurs arena andโข weigh in on โaโฃ raft of statewide propositions
Early voting locations and hours โ are listed on the Bexar County Elections Department website. Voters can cast ballots at any Bexar โคCounty polling place โopen for early voting regardless of where thay live.
Polling locations are open 8 a.m.-6 p.m. โฃMonday through Friday of this week, then 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday and noon-6 p.m. Sunday. โขTheyโll โคalso be open 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Friday of next week. After that, voters will have โto wait until election day.
Prop A pertains โto the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo and whether voters will approve $192 million to fund upgrades to Freeman Coliseum,Frost Bank Center and otherโค facilities to โขtransform the East Side area into a year-round Western-themed attraction and โฃrodeo district.
Wiht Prop B, residents will determine whether $311โ million in hotel and car rental taxes may be funneled intoโฃ building a new Spurs arena at โคHemisfair. Supporters say it will revitalize downtown while detractors argue hidden costs could fall on local taxpayers, adding that the $311โ million โin tourist dollars would be better spent on other projects.
Seventeen amendments to the Texas Constitution are also on the ballot. While โขmost pertain to taxes, some touch on culture war issues. One constitutional amendment also asks voters whether to funnel billions โof dollars into water โฃinfrastructure.
