Russian Strikes Kill At Least โ25 in โฃUkraine, Including Children
Ternopil,โ Ukraine – A Russian attackโ on Wednesday killed at least 25 people in theโข western Ukrainian city of Ternopil, officials reported, as Moscow intensified its strikes on Ukrainian infrastructureโ adn โcivilian areas. The attack, which involved drones and missiles, also injured nearly 50โฃ people across multiple regions.
The strikesโข come as diplomatic efforts to find a path to peace remain stalled, though a U.S. official indicated that the State Department’s โformer special envoy for Ukraine, Kurt Volker, is scheduled toโ meet with โUkrainian President Volodymyr โขZelenskyy thisโ week to explore potential avenues for renewed peace โคtalks. Ukrainian officials have confirmedโ Volker’s visit to Kyiv but haveโข not commented on discussions regardingโ negotiationsโ with Russia.
Russia’s Defense ministry โฃstated the โฃattacks targeted Ukrainian energy facilities and military-industrial targets, including drone depots, in response to Ukrainian โขstrikes on Russian territory.
in Kharkiv, โขUkraine’s second-largest city, Russian drones injuredโค 46 people, includingโฃ twoโ girls, according toโฃ oleh syniehubov,โฃ head of โthe regional military governance. The drones struck residential buildings, an ambulance station, aโ school, โand other civilian โinfrastructure.
Neighboring Romania and Poland were also impacted by the escalating conflict. Romania scrambled two Eurofighter โTyphoon jets and two F-16s after a drone โenteredโ itsโข airspace during the Russian attacks. Poland โdeployed โขits military aircraft and temporarily closed airports in โขRzeszรณw andโข Lublin as โa precautionary measure.
Simultaneously occurring,โ Russia claimed to have interceptedโ four American-supplied ATACMS missiles firedโฃ by Ukraine โat the city of Voronezh on Tuesday. Debris fromโค the interceptedโ missiles reportedly damagedโ a private house, an orphanage, and a gerontology center,โข though no โcasualties were reported. Ukraine’s General Staff confirmed โfiring ATACMS missiles โat Russiaโฃ but provided noโข further details.
The conflict, which began with Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022, has resulted โin a devastating humanitarian crisis and widespread destruction across Ukraine. Western nations have provided important military and financial aid to Ukraine, but a resolution to the conflict remains elusive.
