Kluivert Expresses Surprise Over Verdonk‘s Lille Transfer, Highlights Value to Indonesia

Having previously worked with Verdonk during their time at Paris Saint-Germain, Kluivert expressed confidence in the player’s ability to make a significant impact. “I haven’t talked to him, but for me it was a surprise that he signed a contract [with Lille],” Kluivert stated on Thursday, September 4th. “After he signed, I talked to the club presidentโฆ I know well becuase I once worked with him in Paris Saint-Germain. And I thought and I knew he was very happy with Calvin’s recruitment.”
Kluivert emphasized Verdonk’s quality and anticipated contributions. He declined to elaborate extensively on the player’s skills, rather asserting verdonk’s importance to both his new club and the Indonesian national team. “I mean, it does not need to be explained to you that Calvin is a fantastic player. He used to be a NEC pillar player and will have an influence to his new club,” Kluivert said. “But also for the Indonesian national team. Calvin is a very, very vital player in our team.”
