Maxwell “Max” Haworth was pronounced dead at the sceneโ despite rescue efforts by his fatherโ and first responders. Theโ incidentโค has sparked an โขoutpouring of grief and generosity,with a GoFundMe campaign โฃraising over $65,000 in less than ten days โคto โขsupport theโข grieving family.

Max, who had recently started kindergarten, was โdescribed by family friends as โa joyful and โคenergetic child. According toโ Ventura Police Department spokesperson, Sergeant Kessler, Max’s father attempted to rescue his son after โขthe tunnel collapsed. “His father picked โขhim upโฃ and went up to the parking lot with him in his arms to get โฃsome โขhelp,” Kessler said.”They โฃdid everything they could.”
Family friend โBryanโข Holloway established a GoFundMe account to assist with funeral expenses and provide support to Max’s parents. โข”My friends areโ notโฃ ones to ask for anything fromโข anyone,but โwe know โthey need any supportโ they can get,” โHolloway wrote on the fundraising page.

“Theโข outpouring of support has been tremendous, we feel so blessed and his parents feel so blessed andโ can’t thank people enough for donating โขand sharing their love,” Kessler said. “They feel overjoyed that their son has touchedโข so โmany people.” Max was the couple’s only childโฃ and was described as their “biggest joy in life and aโฃ blessing they couldn’t have wanted more,” Hollowayโข stated.
