Krakow โคComics Community Mourns the โฃLoss of Dr. Rafaล Koลsut
Krakow, Poland – Dr. โRafaล Koลsut, a โขprominent figure in โthe Polish comics scene adn academic, has died,โค leaving the Krakow community in โmourning. The newsโข was shared by colleagues and โฃfriends on social โmedia this afternoon.
Koลsut’s involvement with media began in childhood withโ an appearance on the TV programโ “Ziarno.” He later pursued aโฃ career โin dubbing and academic research,earning โa doctorateโ from โthe Faculty of Polish Studiesโฃ at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. His โฃdoctoral research focused on โthe history of comics andโข animation,โ and the depiction of social changes โขin visual narratives. Heโฃ authored both scientific and popular science texts andโ taught at โthe Jagiellonian university, the โFr.โ Jรณzef Tischner Universityโค in Krakow, and the University โคof the National Education Commission in Krakow.
Beyond โขacademia, Koลsut was a driving force in Krakow’s local โฃcomic bookโ community.He contributed โto comics magazines, wroteโ scripts and articles, reviewed works, and organized events, most notably โขthe annual Krakow Comics Festival, โคwhich flourished under his leadership.
“Sad news from Krakow. In โthe afternoon I learned that Rafaล โขKoลsut, a long-time member and then,โ for the last two years, the President of the Krakow Comics Association, an โemployee of โฃthe Nicolaus Copernicus University, aโ tireless โorganizer and host of the Krakow Comics Festival, has died,” wrote comic book creator โฃRafaล Szลapa on Facebook.”Just a few days ago โhe announced the institution of an exhibition ofโ comic book boards depicting Krakow.โ Due to the support โI have recently โฃreceived from him, we โขarrangedโ a meeting. Nowโค I know thatโ it will neverโ happen. Rest โคin peace, Rafale.”
Koลsut was remembered by those who knew him as a passionate โand dedicatedโ individual whoโฃ brought heart to every project he undertook.
