The moon is at its farthest point from Earth, at a distance of 405,425 km.October 15, 2023: New Moon
The sky would be dark without the light of the Moon. At this time, the Moon rises almost at the same time as the Sun rises. So, the Moon and Sun will be visible throughout the day. When this happens, the planets can be observed without the interference of the Moon’s light.October 22, 2023: Early New Moon
The Moon will be visible from sunset until midnight when the Moon sets. At this time, a moon-free sky can be observed from midnight until early morning.October 26, 2023: Moon at Perigee
The moon reaches its closest distance to Earth, namely 364,872 km.October 29, 2023: Full Moon
The Moon will be above the horizon from sunset until dawn. During this Full Moon phase, the Moon enters the Earth’s shadow and a Partial Lunar Eclipse occurs. Partial Lunar Eclipse (Photo: Associated Press)

According to the official page Southern Sky, there will be a partial lunar eclipse phenomenon in October 2023. A partial lunar eclipse will occur on October 29 2023. This partial lunar eclipse can also be observed throughout Indonesia.

The partial lunar eclipse in Indonesia will occur from 28 October 2023 at midnight until dawn. The eclipse lasted from 01.01 WIB to 05.26 WIB and the partial eclipse phase started from 02.35 WIB to 03.52 WIB. The peak of the eclipse occurred on October 29 early morning at 03.14 WIB.

The next phenomenon is a meteor shower which will color the sky in October 2023, here is a list of dates as reported on the official website Southern Sky:

October 9, 2023: Draconid Meteor Shower
This minor meteor shower, which appears to come from the Draco constellation, will take place from 6-10 October 2023. It will peak on 9 October 2023, with a rate of 10 meteors per hour. The Draconid meteor shower originates from the remaining dust from comet 21P Giacobini-Zinner. This meteor shower can be enjoyed after sunset until the Draco constellation sets at 21.32 WIB. The new moon rises at 01.47 WIB so look for an observation location that is free of light pollution to hunt for Draconid meteors.10-11 October 2023: Southern Taurid Meteor Shower
The Taurid meteor shower originates from dust grains from Asteroid 2004 TG10 and the remaining dust from Comet 2P Encke, taking place from 28 September-2 December 2023 and never produces more than 5 meteors per hour. The peak appears to come from the constellation Taurus on October 10, with 5 meteors per hour at a speed of 28 km/second. The Taurid meteor shower can be observed after sunset when the constellation Taurus also rises in the east at 19.04 WIB until just before dawn when this constellation will set in the west. The new moon rises at 02.30 WIB.October 21, 2023: Orionid Meteor Shower
The Orionid meteor shower, which originates from the remaining dust from Halley’s comet, will once again grace the night sky from September 26-November 22 2023. The Orionid meteor shower appears from the constellation Orion the Hunter and reaches its peak on October 20-21. During peak night, the Orionid meteor shower produces 25 meteors per hour at a speed of 66 km/second. The radiant of the Orionid meteor shower rises at 22.16 WIB and observers can enjoy the presence of this meteor shower until just before dawn.

Apart from the phenomenon of the Moon, according to the site Southern Sky, there are several meteor shower phenomena that occur in September. The following is the phenomenon of the meteor shower in September 2023 and the estimated time of its occurrence:

Aurigid Meteor Shower September 1, 2023
– Starting August 28-September 5, the Aurigid meteor shower originating from the fragments of comet Kiess (C/1911 N1) will peak on September 1. This meteor shower appears to be coming from the Auriga constellation which rises at 01:33 WIB. For observers whose horizon is blocked by trees or buildings, observations can be made around 03:00 WIB in the morning when the Auriga constellation is higher on the eastern horizon.
– At maximum, observers can see 6 meteors per hour. For 2023, the large convex Moon is still bright all night so it can be a challenge in hunting for meteors. Observations can still be made until September 5.Perseid Epsilon Meteor Shower September 9, 2023
– From September 5-21, the Perseid epsilon meteor shower, which also originates from the comet Swift-Tuttle, will reach its peak on September 9. This meteor shower appears to come from the constellation Perseus and at its peak produces 5 meteors every hour moving at a speed of 64 km/hour.
– The Perseus constellation rises at 22:07 WIB and the Perseid epsilon meteor shower can be observed since the Perseid constellation, which is the radian of this meteor shower, is above the eastern horizon. Observers can start hunting for the Perseid epsilon from 11:00 p.m. until just before the break of dawn. The best time to observe the Perseid epsilon meteor shower is at 03:45 WIB when the radiance reaches the highest point in the sky. The new crescent moon rises at 01:25 WIB and the illuminated surface of the moon is only 27%.

Exploring the Cosmic Phenomenon of Black Holes: Insights from Science and the Quran

Black holes are a cosmic phenomenon that has attracted the attention of many scientists and researchers. Photos/NASA/Space

JAKARTA – Black hole is a natural phenomenon that has attracted the attention of many scientists and researchers. The area in outer space it has such a strong gravitational force that nothing can get out of it.

Scientists say that even light cannot escape the pull of a black hole. Therefore, it is not possible to observe a black hole, either with the naked eye or through a telescope.

However, humans can also recognize the character. Black holes will travel through space like a giant broom that can get rid of and suck up all objects and energy in its path.

If any gas is attracted to the black hole, its temperature will increase sharply to millions of degrees and emit enormous X-rays during its journey to the black hole’s grave.

Meanwhile, the Qur’an has long mentioned the existence of black holes. In a book called Science in the Quran written by Dr. Nadiah Thayyarah, black holes have been explained in Surah At-Takwir verses 15-16.

Allah Subhanahu Wa ta’ala says:

I do not swear by al-Khons

synagogue neighborhood

Meaning: “I swear by the stars (al-khunnas), which circulate and set (al-kunnas).” (QS At-Takwir Verse 15-16)

When viewed from its meaning, the word Khanasa in Arabic means ‘hidden, hidden and invisible’. Yakhnisu means ‘to shrink and hide’. Al-Kunnas means ‘closedness and hiddenness’.

In addition, there are also other verses that explain the existence of black holes, namely Al-Mursalat verse 8. The verse reads:

Faizha al-Nujjuwom tumisat tir

Meaning: “Then when the stars have been obliterated,” (QS Al Mursalat Verse 8).

The existence of these two verses indicates that if a star dies, they will later go to a resting place, a black hole. As a result of the violent collision of atomic particles from a star, a black hole is created.

The great friction of atomic particles then creates a very strong gravity. This is what can pull other celestial bodies into the black hole, and eventually destroyed because of the strong gravity of the black hole.

Astronomers Discover First Evidence of Twin Planets Sharing Same Orbit

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com July 20, 2023

Astronomers have found the first evidence of two planets sharing the same orbit around a star. Photos/Space/NASA

FLORIDA – For astronomer have found the first evidence of two siblings planet that share the same orbit around a star. The first planet is the larger PDS 70b exoplanet and another planet, called the Trojan planet, was detected as a dust cloud 400 light years from Earth.

This cloud of dust matter twice the weight of Earth’s moon eventually condenses into a planet, creating two worlds that share the same orbit around a star. The dust cloud could be debris from what was once a planet, meaning it is a pair of Trojans orbiting around the young star PDS 70.

Trojan planets, worlds that share the same orbit around the same star, have been theorized for at least two decades. However, this is the first time evidence has been found to support the Trojan planet concept.

This discovery is exciting, because it can provide clues about how planetary systems form. This research was published in the journal Astronomy & Astrophysics on 19 July 2023.

“This is the first time we have found evidence of the accumulation of a dust cloud twice the mass of the moon in the correct region of the young planet’s orbit. This Trojan planet is a ‘fossil’ from the process of planet formation,” said Olga Balsalobre-Ruza, student at the Center for Astrobiology in Space to Space.com, Thursday (20/7/2023).

It’s thought that Trojan planets form when dust clouds become trapped in a region of combined gravitational pull between the parent star and planet so that it can hold material in a stable manner, called the Lagrangian zone. Space scientists typically use near-Earth Lagrangian gravitational stability points to “park” instruments such as the James Webb Space Telescope.

The team detected this Trojan planet in the form of a dust cloud that follows the young planet using the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA), a network of radio telescopes in Chile. They were told it was evidence of a Trojan planet as it was within the orbit of the planet PDS 70b in the Lagrangian L5 region, where the Trojans were expected to form.

Cannibal Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) Threatens Earth with Sun Storm: July 18, 2023

WASHINGTON – The rare cannibal coronal mass ejection (CME) is ready hit Earth . Coronal Mass Ejection known as Sun storm hit Earth on July 18, 2023 and has the potential to trigger a weak geomagnetic storm.

Quoted from the Live Science page, Tuesday (18/7/2023), this cannibal solar storm is two coronal mass ejections that come together to form a huge cloud of magnetic plasma. Ejection of the cannibal coronal mass occurs when the initial CME is followed by a second, more rapid CME.

As the second CME catches up with the first cloud, it engulfs it, creating a massive plasma wave. Both coronal mass ejections originate from class C solar flares, an intermediate level of solar eruption power.

The combined size and speed of the two CMS are likely to trigger level G1 or G2 disturbances, the two lowest classes for geomagnetic storms. A simulation from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Space Weather Prediction Center (NOAA) cannibalistic CME clouds will likely hit Earth on July 18.

Cannibal CMEs are rare because they require sequential CMEs that are perfectly aligned and moving at a certain speed. However, in recent years, the phenomenon of this cannibal solar storm has been found.

In November 2021, a cannibal CME crashed into Earth, triggering one of the first major geomagnetic storms of the current solar cycle. Two more CMEs will hit our planet in 2022, the first in March and another in August, and both trigger powerful G3 class storms.

Cannibal CMEs become more likely during solar maximum activity, of the roughly 11-year solar cycle. During this time, the number of sunspots and solar flares has increased markedly because the sun’s magnetic field has become increasingly unstable.

Scientists originally predicted that the next solar activity maximum would arrive in 2025 and be weaker than previous solar cycles. Earth has been hit by five major geomagnetic storms (G4 or G5) this year, including the strongest in more than six years.

This storm has heated the thermosphere, the second highest layer in Earth’s atmosphere, to its highest temperature in more than 20 years. The number of sunspots also increases as it approaches solar maximum, reaching its highest total for nearly 21 years in June.
