Tyler, the Creator has revealed that his guest verse on Clipse’s critically acclaimed 2022 album, Let God Sort ‘Em Out, ranks among the top eight moments of his life. The revelation came during a recent interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music, shedding light on the importance of the collaboration for the Grammy-winning artist.
Tyler detailed the immense weight the opportunity held for him, stating, “Just pressing play and hearing your voice on a Clipse album.I don’t think folks know the weight that sh*t really got. I got Grammys, I got whips, I done did it all. That might be top eight moments of my life.” He expressed his gratitude to Pusha T, Malice, and Pharrell Williams, acknowledging their impact on his career.
The collaboration wasn’t without its challenges. Tyler previously shared with Ebro Darden on Hot 97’s Ebro in the Morning that he nearly abandoned the verse out of frustration, even offering to have Pusha T remove his contribution. he explained the pressure he felt working with two of his “mount Rushmores” – referring to Clipse and Pharrell – and the desire to deliver a perfect performance. He reportedly received the beat in April 2022 and didn’t deliver the completed verse until late May or early June.
Pusha T recounted the process from his viewpoint in a July interview with Ebro Darden. He described Tyler as actively engaged throughout the album’s creation, frequently checking in on the progress of various tracks. According to Pusha T, Tyler specifically requested to be featured on the album and was sent the instrumental for “P.O.V.” while on tour. Pusha T simply asked for a fast turnaround, trusting Tyler to deliver.
