From Gamarra to Global: How One Entrepreneur Exported Fashion
Fran Sรกnchez, a Gamarra native, transformed a family clothing business from children’s wear to a successful exporter of female garments. His journey demonstrates how strategic thinking and adapting to market trends can lead to international success, proving that even in a competitive landscape, opportunity can be found.
The Turning Point
Ten years ago, the family’s children’s clothing line began to struggle. Fran, recognizing the shift in demand, encouraged his mother and sister to focus on women’s fashion. He then leveraged his international business knowledge to seek clients at trade shows.
โWe design our own models, we do not copy, we have a specialized area and we do everything from scratch.โ

Sรกnchez secured his first international client at the Peru Fashion event in 2018. A buyer from Costa Rica discovered his brand, leading to significant orders. Today, his brand, โBangรผi,โ has two stores and exports to Costa Rica, while also selling throughout Peru.
Conquering Challenges
Sรกnchez, who once held a steady job, had to learn and earn the trust of his family. He studied international business, aiming to contribute to the family enterprise, and now operates in his comfort zone. He emphasizes unique designs, quality, and good finishes as key factors in attracting customers.
According to the World Trade Organization, the apparel industry continues to grow, with global exports valued at over $500 billion in 2023 (Source 2023).
Adapting to the Market
To stand out in Gamarra, Sรกnchez focuses on excellent customer service, including a pleasant ambiance and special treatment. He utilizes social media and WhatsApp for sales, and the business experiences peak sales during Mother’s Day, July, and December.
Sรกnchez’s future plans include expanding the online channel and establishing a presence in retail stores throughout the provinces. His core products, especially the “viral basics” t-shirts, consistently sell well.
