Birmingham, England – A wave of young Indonesian badminton players will debut at the 2026 All England Championships, commencing March 3rd at the Utilita Arena Birmingham. Of the 24-player Indonesian squad, a majority are first-time competitors at the prestigious tournament, marking a significant investment in the nation’s long-term badminton strategy.

Among the debutants is Alwi Farhan, the 2023 junior world champion, who expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity. “The preparation here has been a few days of training in England, yesterday was maximum, competitive and that will be a decent asset later on for the All-Ireland,” Farhan stated, according to reports from voi.id.

Joining Farhan in their All England debut are Raymond Indra and Nikolaus Joaquin, as well as Rachel Allessya Rose, Febi Setianingrum, Jafar Hidayatullah, and Felicia Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu. Nikolaus Joaquin emphasized the importance of the event, stating, “I was really happy because it was a competition we had been pursuing since we were young. What we have is a very precious opportunity and should not be wasted.”

Further Indonesian players making their first appearance at the All England include Rahmat Hidayat, Meilysa Trias Puspitasari, and the mixed doubles pair of Amri Syahnawi and Nita Violina Marwah. The Indonesian team will also feature Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja, who will partner with Singapore’s Hee Yong Kai Terry in the mixed doubles competition.

The All England Championships, celebrating its 116th edition this year, is considered the world’s oldest badminton tournament. The Indonesian team underwent an acclimatization program in Milton Keynes, approximately 120 kilometers south of Birmingham, from February 24th to 28th, 2026, before relocating to Birmingham on March 1st to adjust to the competition venue, according to Eng Hian, Head of Development and Achievement Division of the All Indonesia Badminton Association (PBSI).

Indonesia’s full contingent includes established players such as Jonathan Christie and Princess Kusma Wardani, alongside the emerging talents. The complete list of Indonesian representatives includes Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, Sabar Khariman Gutama/Muhammad Reza Fahvi Ispanialem, Leo Rolly Carnando/Vargas Muranato, Muhammad Ryan Ardianto/Rahmat Hidayat, Febriana Dwifzuki Kusma/Meilysa Trias Puspitasari, Sisti Fadia Silva Ramadanti/Amilia Kahaya Pratiwi, and Jafar Hidayatullah/Felicia Alberta Natsri Pasaribu, in addition to the mixed doubles pairing of Amri Syahnawi/Nita Willina Marwa and Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja/Hee Yong Kai Terry.

The tournament is scheduled to run from March 3rd to 8th, 2026, at the Utilita Arena Birmingham.
