Sources indicate potential for increased earnings. the previews, which began at 2 PM, signal a potentially strong opening weekend for the original theatrical release.
The thursday figure is comparable to the $2.6 million earned by DiCaprio’s Killers of the Flower Moon on its first Thursday evening in 2023, which ultimately opened with a $23.2 million weekend. Though, One Battle After Another‘s previews are lower than the $5.8 million generated by once Upon a Time in Hollywood in 2019, which launched to a $41 million three-day. One Battle After Another clocks in at 2 hours and 41 minutes, while Killers of the flower Moon ran 3 hours and 26 minutes.
Currently, One Battle After Another boasts an 87% Audience Score on rotten Tomatoes, exceeding scores for several of DiCaprio’s previous films, including The Revenant (84%), Killers of the Flower Moon (84%), The Wolf of Wall Street (83%), and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (70%). It also surpasses Anderson’s Licorice Pizza (65%) and is slightly ahead of There Will Be Blood (86%), though trailing Boogie Nights and Magnolia (both 89%).
Warner Bros. anticipates a domestic opening in the low $20 million range for the film, which carried a $130 million-$140 million production cost.
