Susan Kendall newman, Actress adn Daughter of Paul Newman, Dies at 72
Hollywood is mourning the loss of Susanโค Kendall Newman, a stageโค and screen actress and the daughter of acting legend Paul Newman, who died on August 2ndโข at the age of 72 following complications from chronic health conditions.
Newman, aโฃ Golden Globe, Humanitas Award winner and Grammy nominee, was best known for her roles in the 1978 films I Wanna Hold Your โHand, where she played Janis goldman, and A Wedding, as Chris Clinton. She also โขworked as a producer on the television drama The Shadow Box.
Born to Paul Newman and his โขfirst wife, Jackie Witte, โฃsusan Kendall Newman enjoyed a diverse career spanning Broadway and film. Her father, a celebrated actor and racing car driver, โstarred in iconic films like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and โค Cat on a Hot Tin Roof before his death in 2008 at age 83. Her โคmother, Jackie, passed away in 1994 at the age of 64.
News of Newman’s passing has prompted an outpouring of tributes online.A former colleague shared, “I’m sure aโข lot of people were stunnedโฃ this morning to see an obit for Susan Kendall โคNewman. Susan’s number is โฃin my phone.โ She was a huge help toโ me when I reported stories about trouble at the Newman Foundation,whichโฃ runs Newmans Own,the philanthropic food company.”
The colleague continued, “She was so bright and articulate, and knew the inner workings of a troubled butโ significant organization. I’m sending condolences to her familyโฃ including โher sisters, and Woodward, who is 95 and has suffered from Alzheimer’s for more than a decade.” (referring to Paul Newman’s wife, Joanne Woodward).
