Siblings Accused of Operating Fraudulent Dental Practice, Causing Patient harm
ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. – A brother and sister are facing accusations of running an illegal dental practice in Orange County, California, resulting in significant harm to patients, including disfigurement and infections.
Carlos Rendon and his sister, Yorlady Rendon, allegedly operated the fraudulent practice for several years, wiht Carlos posing as the dentist and Yorlady assisting. The scheme came to light after a patient contacted authorities, reporting that the Rendons filed down her teeth to accommodate veneers that were improperly fitted. According to a report from WOFL, the patient was deeply distressed by the appearance of the veneers and afterward required antibiotic treatment for a resulting gum infection.
Dentist Dr. Deoraj Ravi Lall, speaking with WOFL, emphasized the potential severity of such infections. “She could have tooth loss,” he stated, adding that gum infections can lead to serious systemic health problems, including heart issues, kidney problems, and even diabetes.
While authorities have not yet released details regarding the total number of patients treated, the extent of injuries sustained by others, or the total amount of money obtained through the alleged scheme, the case highlights the dangers of unqualified individuals performing dental procedures. The specific charges against Carlos and Yorlady Rendon have not been publicly announced at this time.
