Pamekasan, East Java – The Pamekasan Regency Health Office has declared anโ Extraordinary Event (KLB) status for measles in 18 โvillages following a surge inโ cases and reported fatalities. The declaration, made Saturday, aims to โmobilize resources and accelerate immunization efforts to contain the outbreak.
The affected villages are Batukalangan, Bugih, Campor, โDasok, Groat Anyar, โGroom, Jambringin, Jarin, Kramat, badung Prohibition, Majungan,โฃ Pamoroh, Bangkes, Panaguan, Pangbatok, โฃSumberโฃ Waru, Terrak, and โDesapolagan.
According to the Head of the pamekasan Health Office, the decision to โฃdeclare a KLB was โคprompted by a significant increase in measles cases,โค including deaths. “Based โon reports from each โ Puskesmas as of today, six children have died โdue โขtoโ measles exposure inโค Pamekasan,” he stated. This represents an increase of โขfive deaths compared to the previously reported single fatality.
As of September 4, 2025, aโ total of 417 residents are suspected of having measles, with 160 confirmed cases. The fatalities โคoccurred among โคchildren โaged between 4 months and 4 years, and were reported across four districts: Tlanakan, โPasean, โPamekasan, and โฃLarangan. Specifically, one death was recorded in Pamekasan District, one โขin Pasean District, and two each in Larangan and Pasean Districts.
In response to the escalating situation, the Health Office is โaccelerating mass measles immunization campaigns toโ prevent further spread ofโ the disease.
