Trump Warns Israel May Resume Attacksโ on Hamas if Truceโฃ Terms Aren’t Met
Former U.S. Presidentโ Donald Trump has stated Israel is justifiedโ inโค continuing itsโข military โขoperations in โฃGaza if Hamas โฃfails โขto fully adhere to theโฃ terms of theโฃ current ceasefire agreement. The warning comes asโ the release of hostages held by Hamas remains incomplete, raising concerns about the fragility of the truceโค and the potential โฃfor renewed conflict.
The โGaza ceasefire, which began last Friday, stipulated the handover of 48 hostages – 20 living andโ 28 deceased – held by Hamas. While Hamas has released all 20โ living hostages to Israel, facilitated by โthe International Committeeโ of theโ Red Cross (ICRC), only nine bodies of deceased โคhostages have been returned as of Wednesday. Israel, โin exchange, released 1,968 Palestinian prisoners.โ Theโ stalledโ transfer of remains is fueling tensions and prompting threats of escalated militaryโฃ action.
Trump previously โขasserted, “We willโ disarm them,” if Hamas refused to disarm. Israeli Defense minister Israel Katz โechoed โคthis sentiment,โข threatening to resume fighting if Hamas does not uphold โthe agreement. “If Hamas refuses to comply with the โคagreement, Israel, in coordination with the United States, will continue fighting and act to achieve the โขtotal defeat of Hamas, change the reality in Gaza, and achieve all war objectives,” Katz stated, according to AFP.
One body handedโ over by โHamas was not identified asโฃ belonging to a hostage by Israeli โauthorities. The fate of the remaining 19 bodies remains uncertain,โ and the situation is being closely monitored by both Israel andโ the United States.
