Gaza Family โNames Newborn ‘Singapore’ in Gratitude for Aid
Gaza, Palestine – A family in Gazaโ has named their newborn daughter “Singapore” as a heartfelt โexpression of gratitude for humanitarian assistance provided by Singaporean organizations during the ongoing conflict. The baby, born on October 16, 2025,โฃ isโข believed to be the โฃfirst Palestinian child to โคreceive the name.
The father,Hamdan Hadad,explained โฃthe deeply personal reason behind the naming choice. Hadad,who has worked at a Singapore-runโ public kitchen in Gaza for two years,stated โhis wife relied on the kitchen for vital nutrition throughout her pregnancy. He credited the consistent food supply with โขhelping โhis family endure hunger amidst the Israel-Hamas conflict, saying, “I amโ happy and want to name it โขSingapore becauseโค I really love them.”
The naming was sharedโ by Love Aid Singapore, aโข charity led by Singaporeanโ activist Gilbert goh,โ on social media. The organization posted a copy of the baby’s birth certificate confirming โthe name.The newbornโ weighed 2.7kg at birth.
Love Aid Singapore expressed hope in an October 18th Instagram post that the baby woudl be welcomed intoโ a world marked by a permanent ceasefire.
The gesture comes as Singapore continues to provide substantial aid to Gaza. The Singaporeโฃ Red Cross has donated at least $1.9 million in humanitarian assistance to the โฃregion since 2023, โfollowing the outbreak of the current conflict triggered by Hamas’s October 7, 2023 attack on Israel and the subsequent kidnapping of over 250 hostages. israel responded withโข a military offensive resulting in important casualties in the Gaza โขStrip.
