Andrew moncrief’s “Bardo“ Exhibition Explores Transformation at DUVE BERLIN
BERLIN - DUVE BERLIN presents ”Bardo,” a new exhibition by contemporary artist Andrew Moncrief, opening Wednesday, September 10, 2025, from 6:00 – 9:00 pm. The exhibition runs through Friday, October 31, 2025, with special opening times during berlin art Week on Friday, September 12th and saturday, September 13th from 12:00 - 6:00 pm.
Moncrief’s work, described by Song Tae Chong, PhD, as pushing “physical and metaphysical boundaries,” investigates themes of transformation and rebirth through abstraction and formal construction. The exhibition’s title references the Buddhist concept of bardo – the “middle state” of consciousness between death and rebirth – a space where the mind encounters reality and pivotal change occurs.
“On Moncrief’s canvas lies this middle state; bound by a continual state of process within the abstracted canvas,” writes Chong in the exhibition text. moncrief’s paintings explore “the mechanics of things,” questioning how the body copes and how it offers opportunities for transformation.
Featured work includes Nexus, a 2025 oil on linen painting measuring 180cm x 200cm.
