Southwest Monsoon Impacts Western Luzon
The Southwest Monsoon, locally known as Habagat, is currently affecting the western sections of โฃNorthern and Central โLuzon,โ bringingโฃ the possibility of โisolated rain showers, according to a forecastโ released by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Sunday.
Regional Weather Outlook
Residents in the Ilocos Region, Zambales, and Bataan should be prepared for partlyโ cloudy to cloudy skiesโ with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. PAGASA warns that severe thunderstorms could trigger flashโข floods orโค landslides โin these areas.
Meanwhile, the easterlies are expected to bring partly cloudy to โขcloudy skiesโฃ with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms to Caraga and the Davao โขRegion. Similar toโ luzon,the potential for flash floods andโ landslides exists during severe thunderstorm activity.
Metro Manila andโฃ the rest of the country can anticipate partly โขcloudy to cloudy skies with โคisolated rain showers orโข thunderstorms due โคto localized thunderstorm development.Again, severe thunderstorms pose a riskโข of flash floods and landslides.
Coastal Waters and Sunrise/sunset
Coastal waters are currentlyโ moderate โin the โwesternโฃ section of northernโ Luzon,while conditions are slight to moderate in the rest of the archipelago. Sunrise occurred at 5:44 a.m. today, and sunset is expected at 6:04 p.m.
Tropicalโ Storm Tapah Update
As of 3:00 a.m. today,โ Tropical storm Tapah (formerly known as Lannie while within the Philippine Area of Responsibility โor PAR) was located 640 kilometers west of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.
The storm currently packs maximum sustained winds ofโข 75 km/h nearโค the โคcenter, with gusts reaching up to 9 km/h. Tapah is moving west northwestward at a speed of โข15 km/h.
