Colombian Goalkeeper Kevin Mier Faces Lawsuit Over Rental Property Dispute in Mexico
Colombian footballer Kevin Mier, โคcurrently recovering from a fracture sustained whileโค playing in Liga MX that jeopardizes his potential participation in teh 2026 World Cup, โฃis now embroiled in a legal dispute โwith his โformer โฃlandlord in Mexico City. Yolanda Muรฑizโค Martรญnez hasโฃ filed โฃa lawsuit against the 25-year-old goalkeeper,โค seeking 270,000 pesosโข (approximately 55 million Colombian pesos) for alleged breach of lease โadn property damage.
According to documents filed onโค october 9thโข (File 50042025), Mier allegedly ceased rent payments on the property he occupied for the past year and a half, and isโ accused ofโ leaving the residence inโ a damaged and unclean condition. Muรฑiz Martรญnez claims the player โhas been avoiding her attemptsโ toโ discuss the matter.โ
The complaint further โขalleges that Mier was accused of removingโ a microwave oven from the property, which was originally includedโฃ in the inventory when the house was previously rented to Colombian player Kevin Castaรฑo.
Muรฑiz Martรญnez stated to ESTO that Mier’s issues began after 15 pairs of tennis shoes were stolen โฃfromโข the houseโค byโ his cleaning employee. She claims his partner then informedโ her they would no longerโ return to the property and would not fulfill the remaining rental obligations, including a โคone-month penalty clause. Mier reportedly agreed to forgo payment of this penalty.
Mier was reportedly โขnotified of the lawsuit at his club headquarters on Novemberโ 13th. He โhas acknowledged theโ complaint and is expected to โคissue a formal defence addressing theโข accusations. Muรฑiz Martรญnez has โฃprovidedโ video evidence purportedlyโข showing the condition of the house โafter Mier vacated theโ premises.
