Oman Air: Direct Flights from Muscat to Tashkent Launch June 1st

Oman Air will launch direct flights between Muscat and Tashkent, Uzbekistan, beginning June 1, 2026, marking the airline’s first entry into the Central Asian market. The modern route will operate twice weekly, connecting the capitals of Oman and Uzbekistan, according to an announcement made on February 24, 2026.

The service represents an expansion of Oman Air’s international network and is the eighth new destination the airline has announced since December 2025, signaling an “accelerated network growth strategy,” the airline stated. The four-hour flight aims to enhance connectivity between the Sultanate of Oman and Central Asia, catering to both business and leisure travelers.

Con Korfiatis, Chief Executive of Oman Air, emphasized the airline’s commitment to sustainable expansion with the new route. “The launch of Tashkent reflects Oman Air’s continued focus on building a commercially sustainable network that balances point-to-point demand with strategic growth markets,” Korfiatis said. He also noted that Central Asia is a region of “increasing relevance for both inbound and outbound travel” and that the service is intended to support Oman’s tourism ambitions by attracting visitors from Uzbekistan and the wider region.

Both Oman and Uzbekistan share historical ties along the ancient Silk Road, a connection officials hope will draw tourists interested in the cultural heritage of both nations. The route is expected to boost inbound tourism to Oman and strengthen trade and cultural relations between the two countries.

Oman Air anticipates the new service will provide a convenient travel option, given Tashkent’s status as one of Central Asia’s largest cities and a growing tourism destination known for its historical landmarks and parks.
