Italy, as the host nation, finished last in Group B without any points, having conceded 19 goals while scoring only four.

The Swiss team boasts a roster including players from the National Hockey League, while Italy’s performance in the group stage revealed a significant goal differential of -15. Italy’s games against Sweden and Slovakia were closely contested. Against Sweden, Italy initially led 1-0 and later equalized at 2-2 before conceding two late goals in a 2-5 defeat. Their match against Slovakia was even tighter, ending in a 2-3 loss. Italy’s largest defeat came against Finland, a 0-11 loss that heavily impacted their overall goal difference. The men’s ice hockey tournament at the 2026 Winter Olympics features twelve qualified teams.
